American Heart Association says combining morning exercise with short walking breaks helps control blood pressure in older overweight/obese adults

American Heart AssociationDallas, TX – Thirty minutes of morning exercise lowers blood pressure for the rest of the day among older men and women who are overweight or obese. And women who take brief, frequent breaks from sitting throughout the day can enhance the blood pressure benefits of morning exercise even more, according to new research published in the American Heart Association’s journal Hypertension.

Women who are overweight or obese enhanced the beneficial effects of morning exercise to reduce blood pressure by adding three-minute breaks from sitting every half hour throughout the day. (American Heart Association)

APSU Softball takes doubleheader from Tennessee State

APSU SoftballClarksville, TNMorgan Rackel and Kelsey Gross limited Tennessee State to just three hits combined on the afternoon, Sunday at Cathi Maynard Park, as Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team sweeps their Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader with the Tigers by 9-1 and 4-1 finals.

Both pitchers were dominate, as Rackel retired 13 straight batters after giving up a first-inning run in Game 1, while Gross retied 14 straight after giving up her lone run in the first inning.

City of Clarksville to celebrate Arbor Day on April 5th

The trees to be planted have been donated by the Clarksville Tree Board.

Clarksville Police Department holds Retirement Ceremony for Officer Russ Baker

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Officer Russ Baker started a new chapter in his life after 39 years of service, 17 with the Clarksville Police Department and 22 with the Army.

He joined the Clarksville Police Department Aug 16th, 2001 and retired Friday, March 29th, 2019 in a room filled with friends, family and well-wishers, including Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and other dignitaries. He served on the Clarksville Police Department’s honor guard for seven years.

Clarksville Police charge Brittany Lee for False Report

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Emergency responders were tied up for hours responding to Carjacking which eventually turned out to be a fabricated story. Clarksville Police says that on February 7th, 2019 around 10:10am, the 911 center received multiple calls about a wrecked out Dodge Ram on McAdoo Creek Road which hit a tree, but no one was in the vehicle.

A short time later Brittany Lee called in to 911 saying she was injured, victim of a carjacking, the suspect crashed the pickup into a tree and fled the scene on foot.
