Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine during an award ceremony in Washington D.C., May 5. As the head technical advisor for Fort Campbell’s COVID-19 response he enabled Soldier readiness by pioneering protocols for pre- and post-deployment testing to limit spread, evaluation criteria for hospital admission, and home monitoring. He was formerly an active duty Soldier on Fort Campbell and also served as the deputy commander for clinical services at BACH before retiring after 24 years in the Army. Helwig continues to serve and give back to Military Medicine as a government civilian.
