APSU Sports has 10 Govs earn degrees at Summer Commencement; May grads get the chance to walk

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Over the past two days, 10 Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics alumni and staff would have walked across the Dunn Center stage to receive their degrees at the Summer 2020 commencement exercises.

In addition, many of our athletic alumni we did not get to celebrate in May got to walk across the Dunn Center stage this week to celebrate their graduation during the spring. We invite you to look back at those names–and their accomplishments–here.

Austin Peay State University sports legend Tom Morgan passes away at age of 87

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Tom Morgan, the multi-sport standout considered one of the greatest pure athletes in Austin Peay State University (APSU) history, passed away Friday morning, July 17th, 2020, at the age of 87.

A 1978 inductee into the Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame, which was the first full class to be enshrined, Morgan was a standout on the basketball court and on the diamond, setting numerous records in his heyday.

APSU Athletes continue success in classroom during Coronavirus pandemic

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes continued their recent string of success in the classroom, the department announcing its 297 athletes combined to post a 3.292 grade-point average during the Spring 2020 semester.

It is the sixth consecutive semester the APSU athletics department has posted a 3.0 GPA or better and the eighth time in department history. In addition, each of the 15 varsity teams recorded a 3.0 GPA for the second consecutive semester.

“I must commend all of our student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom,” said APSU Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison.

APSU Athletics announces Credit available to Govs 2020 Baseball season ticket holders

 

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics department is offering ticket credits to 2020 baseball season ticket holders, beginning Monday.

The credit season ticket holders receive may be used on any new APSU season ticket purchase (football, basketball or baseball) that has not been processed.

This Week at APSU: Candlelight Ball auction to raise money for Austin Peay State University scholarships

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Charlie Daniels, the Country Music Hall of Famer known for “sawing on a fiddle and playing it hot,” helped reinvigorate that 400-year-old instrument with his 1979 hit, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” More than 40 years later, his influence continues to transform the music genre, and attendees at the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Candlelight Ball this spring will get a chance to own a piece of country music history when the school auctions off a signed Charlie Daniels fiddle.
