Weekly APSU COVID-19 Update for April 10th, 2021

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this week, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) COVID-19 vaccination site administered its 2,000th vaccine. The University also began giving a limited number of Johnson & Johnson vaccines to students.

The University only received a few of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines, and it continues to provide the Moderna vaccine to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. To sign up for a vaccine at APSU, visit this site.

APSU Nursing, rad tech students see power of collaboration in interdisciplinary simulation

Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation commits $3 million for the new APSU Health Professions Building

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation (CMCCHF) recently committed to a gift of $3 million to the Austin Peay State University Foundation. The gift will be used exclusively to establish the CMC Community Health Foundation Equipment & Building Fund with the APSU Foundation, to support the Health Professions Building and additional equipment needs.

Austin Peay State University School of Nursing forms partnership with Fisk University

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Last year, when Fisk University decided to provide a nursing pathway for its students, the Nashville-based school reached out to one of the top programs in the region – the Austin Peay State University (APSU) School of Nursing. Officials at Fisk liked that APSU’s program consistently had a near 100% passing rate for the national licensure test, and Austin Peay State University officials were eager to take advantage of the diversity that Fisk – a historically Black university – offered.

Austin Peay State University nursing student Sarah Sullivan helping in New York with COVID-19

 

‘Loss on such a grand scale is incredibly challenging for me’

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Many of the hundreds of COVID-19 Coronavirus patients that Registered Nurse Sarah Sullivan has cared for in New York have died in the emergency room where she’s working. 

“As a nurse, I’ve lost patients before, but loss on such a grand scale and when they’re so young …,” she said before taking a breath and looking down.

Austin Peay State University unveils vision for new Health Professions Building

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Friday morning, Austin Peay State University (APSU) unveiled its vision for a new Health Professions Building that will one day consolidate the University’s growing healthcare-related programs under one roof.

Those programs include the School of Nursing and the departments of allied health sciences, health and human performance, psychological science and counseling and social work.
