Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Two Austin Peay State University men’s golfers have been honored with the athletics department’s highest honors.

Meanwhile, on the women’s side a multitalented softball player and a Lady Govs soccer player who brought nationwide attention to her country, herself and APSU earned similar honors Monday night at the annual APSU’s Athletics Banquet, held in the Dunn Center.

APSU Governors Golf picked to repeat as OVC Champions; Lady Govs Golf picked sixth

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team has been picked to repeat as Ohio Valley Conference champions in a vote league coaches.

Meanwhile, the Lady Govs golf team was picked to tie for sixth on the women’s side.

On the men’s side Austin Peay received 8 of 11 first-place points to finish with the most points (96). That was eight points better than second-place Belmont who received the other three first-place votes (88 points).

Aubrey Marsellis named APSU Athlete of the Week

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Sophomore setter Aubrey Marsellis, of Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Marsellis filled in admirably for illness-saddled junior Cami Fields, totaling 79 assists in Lady Gov wins against Southeast Missouri and UT Martin after playing sparingly against seventh-ranked Missouri, Tuesday.

Austin Peay State University Governors Golf prepared to defend F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate title

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUHopkinsville, KY – Off its first tournament championship, Austin Peay State University men’s golf team hopes to end its fall season in strong fashion when it hosts the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday, at the Links at Novadell.

APSU Governors Golf win third straight Bearcat Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUHebron, KY – For a third straight year, Austin Peay State University men’s golf team has captured the Bearcat Invitational.

The Governors shot a final-round 289 to finish at 862, five strokes better than runner-up Marshall. Host Cincinnati was third at 871.

APSU Golf Team in second place after first round of Bearcat Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUHebron, KY – Golf course familiarity played huge dividends for Austin Peay State University men’s golf team Monday. The Govs shot a 3-under 285 in the first round of the Bearcat Invitational to sit in second place, one shot off the in action being played at the Traditions Golf Club.

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Last season’s success provided the opportunity for Austin Peay State University men’s golf coach Kirk Kayden to strengthen his team’s schedule in 2013-14 and he did so as evidenced by the presence of four tournaments hosted by teams that reached the NCAA regionals last season.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Golf coach Kirk Kayden: Driving the Governors to greatness

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Every golfer knows that to play your best golf, you must hit fairways and greens. If you miss either of them, then you can’t score. The game is easier to play when you’re not in a hazard. Not that it’s an easy game to begin with.

Austin Peay golf coach Kirk Kayden has kept his team out of the hazard and in the best position to win since his arrival in 2004. He does more than just drive the van.
