Austin Peay State University GovernorsNashville, TN – For the first 35 minutes of Austin Peay Governor’s opening-round matchup against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks Wednesday night, TyShwan Edmondson and the Govs could do no wrong.

Unfortunately for the Govs, the Gamecocks played better over the game’s final five minutes, erasing a six-point deficit as Brian Williams buried a go-ahead 3-pointer with 33 seconds left and handed the Govs in a 75-70 loss in front of a stunned Municipal Auditorium crowd.

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – After Thursday’s 15-point victory over Eastern Kentucky, Govs head coach Dave Loos said Saturday’s game against Jacksonville State would determine how the Govs performed the rest of this season.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay will play host to Jacksonville State, 7:30pm, Saturday, in an Ohio Valley Conference contest. It is the only time this season that these two teams will play each other in the regular season.

Shooting has been an issue for the Govs this season, at least before the Govs’ 80-65 victory, Thursday night against Eastern Kentucky. For the season, APSU is shooting 43.3 percent, but that was bolstered by a 29 of 48 (60.4 percent) night against Eastern Kentucky.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – In one respect, Austin Peay doesn’t want to forget. In another vein, the Governors need to have a short memory.

Just two weeks ago, Austin Peay owned a 10-point lead with less than five minutes left in its Ohio Valley Conference opener at Eastern Kentucky, only to blow the lead, in particular, in the final 2:30 with a quartet of turnovers in a 67-65 defeat. That frustrating defeat certainly has been too fresh on the Govs mind.
