Tennessee Higher Education Commission releases statement on ITT Technical Institute Closure

 

Tennessee Higher Education CommissionNashville, TN – The Tennessee Higher Education Commission has announced it is working to assist students of ITT Technical Institute with information and resources following the school’s announcement that it is closing.

Students with questions regarding the closure can contact THEC at 615.741.5293. Additionally, THEC has posted information on its website for students at www.tn.gov/thec, along with an online form that students can complete to receive email updates.

Four APSU Govs picked in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player draft, Saturday

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityNew York, NY  – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team saw a quartet of student-athletes drafted in the third day of Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft, Saturday.

Junior catcher Ridge Smith was the first Governors player to be drafted, hearing his named called in the 12th round (372nd pick) by the Toronto Blue Jays. Junior third baseman/outfielder Logan Gray went next with his hometown Kansas City Royals nabbing him in the 13th round (403rd pick).

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam Signs ABLE Legislation to Help Families and Individuals with Disabilities Save with Tax-free Earnings

 

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Families of those with disabilities are now one step closer to saving more money for medical costs with tax-free earnings.

Yesterday, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed the Tennessee ABLE Act into Law, giving State Treasurer David H. Lillard, Jr. the authority to create and offer tax-advantaged investment plans to help families of those with disabilities save money for a variety of qualifying expenses.

The legislation, passed unanimously by the 109th General Assembly, establishes an Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Program in accordance with federal legislation.
