Austin Peay State University’s new website earns major award at regional conference

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In the summer of 2017, Austin Peay State University unveiled a newly redesigned website, www.apsu.edu, to enhance the University’s digital presence, and on February 13th, that website was named one of the best in the Southeast.

During the annual Council for Advancement and Support of Education District III conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Austin Peay received an Award of Excellence for Website Redesign.

Fort Campbell wins Broomball Challenge at Downtown Commons Ice Rink

 

Downtown CommonsMontgomery County, TN – Major General Andrew Poppas and his 101st Airborne Division team won the inaugural Mayor vs Major Broomball game at the Downtown Commons ice rink Wednesday night, January 10th, 2 to 1 in overtime.

TRC Executive Director Norman Quirion commented after the game, “What an event. I’m going to say there were at least 300 people out here, and the condition of the ice made tonight’s game more competitive than expected. It wasn’t a high-scoring game, but the competition was real.”

Austin Peay State University College of Business holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Larry W. Carroll Financial Trading Center

Carroll Financial Trading Center, located on the first floor of the Kimbrough Building, during a public ribbon cutting ceremony.

APSU honors former TBR chancellor with John Morgan Walk of History

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When John Morgan says he grew up on the Austin Peay State University campus, he’s not talking metaphorically. His father, Joe Morgan, served as the University’s fourth president, and during those years, the family lived in the historic Archwood Home on College Street.

John literally grew up at Austin Peay, and after earning his degree from the University, he continued to think of the campus as his home.

Montgomery County Veterans Treatment Court “All Rise for Exercise” session

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) Judge Ken Goble Jr. met with participants of the program at the Austin Peay Foy Fitness Center Tuesday June 27th for the Summer 2017 session of “All Rise for Exercise.”

All Rise is a one-hour workout session that promotes a positive activity for many struggling with the effects of PTSD and other substance abuse and mental health issues.

APSU Campus Bookstore to offer retail location on College Street

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 10-year strategic plan calls for creating “a vibrant downtown for a traditional college town experience,” and in the coming months, that goal will receive a major boost when the institution opens a 13,000-square-foot retail bookstore and coffee shop at the corner of College street and Fourth street.

In January 2016, the University purchased 11 acres along College Street, and work will begin soon on relocating the campus’ Ann Ross Bookstore from the Harvill Building, across from the Morgan University Center’s plaza, to the Jenkins and Wynne dealership’s former main showroom.

Austin Peay State University announces APSU Governors Stadium to be renamed Fortera Stadium

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s historic Governors Stadium will soon don a new name through a partnership with Fortera Credit Union. The 25-year, $2.5 million agreement will see the home of APSU football be renamed Fortera Stadium.

Crews will begin work to install signage reflecting its new identity in the days to come as the University and Fortera prepare to celebrate a new era.  A celebration will take place Saturday, April 23rd at the home entrance of the stadium, following the final day of spring football practice. The event is free and open to the public.
