Austin Peay State University Red Coat Society to enshrine Three People, Saturday

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Red Coat Society will grow by three people Saturday when L.M. Ellis, L.W. Harris and Vanessa Hollis gain enshrinement.

Additionally, longtime supporter Ron Morton, who was inducted to the Red Coat Society but unable to attend the ceremony last year, will be recognized for his enshrinement alongside the 2020 class.

The first African-American men’s basketball player signed to play in Ohio Valley Conference history, Ellis is a 1965 graduate from the University and has since gone on to success in the Clarksville community.

Austin Peay State University student scholarship created by Billy Atkins Family, Legends Bank

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Foundation recently received a generous gift from Billy Atkins and Legends Bank to create the Billy Atkins Family Endowed Scholarship. Atkins will provide additional funding to allow the scholarship to be awarded during the 2019-20 academic year.

APSU Governors Red Coat Society to induct Joe Maynard, Cathi Maynard, Ron Morton

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Governors Club, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics booster club, has announced that Joe and Cathi Maynard and Ron Morton will be inducted into the Governors Club Red Coat Society.

Joe and Cathi Maynard will be recognized at halftime of the men’s basketball game against UT Martin that evening. Ron Morton will be recognized at a later date.

Joe and Cathi Maynard are recent members of the Austin Peay family, but they have quickly become two of the Governors biggest supporters.

Austin Peay State University announces 2019 Candlelight Ball Award winners

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this year, the Austin Peay State University Office of Alumni Relations announced the recipients of the 2019 Candlelight Ball Awards.

The Wendell H. Gilbert Award will go to Dr. Jeannie Beauchamp, who established Clarksville Pediatric Dentistry in 1999, and the Spirit of Austin Peay Award will go to Len Rye, a residential contractor who specializes in custom homes.

APSU Men, Women’s Basketball Season Tickets now on Sale

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics department has announced its ticketing structure for the 2018-19 season for men and women’s basketball.

Season ticket prices for the upcoming 20-date, 28-game home slate have been set to the structure indicated in the table below.

No longer will Governors Club membership levels apply; a flat fee for the general public, as well as discounted admissions for faculty, staff and military, will streamline the ticketing system, alongside new ticketing partner Glitnir.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University athletics department and the Governors Club will serve as the host for the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce’s August “Business After Hours” event, 5:00pm, Thursday, August 16th, 2018 in the Echo Power Club Level at Fortera Stadium.

The free event will give attendees the opportunity to experience the Echo Power Club Level and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Austin Peay coaches and staff members will be present to meet local business leaders. Attendees also will have an opportunity to win door prizes at the event.

Tennessee Stolen Valor Act Passes in General Assembly

Nashville, TN – Wednesday morning, House members unanimously passed a measure to strengthen identity protections for our military veterans.

House Bill 2130, also known as the Tennessee Stolen Valor Act, is designed to safeguard the identities of Tennessee veterans who serve the state and nation by cracking down on instances of theft and fraud involving those who attempt to imitate them.

The measure creates a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to 11 months and 29 days in jail, as well as a fine of up to $2,500, for anyone who impersonates a veteran or individuals who fraudulently represent their service with the intent of obtaining money, property, services, or any other tangible benefits.

APSU Basketball to face UIC in CIT quarterfinals

APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball will host UIC, 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 20th, 2018 in the quarterfinal round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

That was announced Saturday, ahead of the four remaining second-round games in the CIT. The Govs, UTSA and Liberty are already announced as hosts, with the remaining host site and opponents to be determined Saturday.
