Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors Women’s Tennis Team looks to defend OVC title

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis opened its spring schedule, January 20th, at 1:00pm, in the Governors Indoor Tennis Center by hosting Chattanooga in what they hope begins the road to defend their Ohio Valley Conference championship.

The Govs return four players from its 2019 spring squad that posted a 22-1 overall record in winning the OVC and earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament, led by junior Fabienne Schmidt and sophomore Danielle Morris, who were voting by the conference’s coaches as the No.2 and No. 6 ranked players in the OVC respectively.

Austin Peay State University Women’s Tennis set for season opener against UTC

Clarksville, TN – After an undefeated regular season and an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship last season, Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis is set to kick off the 2020 spring season with a 1:00pm, Monday, match against Chattanooga at the Governors Tennis Center.

APSU Tennis teams earn ITA team academic honors

Tempe, AZ – Fourteen Austin Peay State University (APSU) tennis student-athletes were recognized for the academic accomplishments as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete.

In addition, both the Governors men and women’s tennis programs were listed on the ITA All-Academic Team listing.

For the third year in a row, both the men and women’s programs earned ITA All-Academic Team honors.

Austin Peay State University student-athletes average 3.0 GPA for a record fourth straight semester

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes posted a departmental grade-point average of 3.0 or better for a program-record fourth consecutive semester finishing the Spring 2019 semester with a 3.096 mark.

A department-record 70 percent of Austin Peay’s 289 varsity student-athletes earned academic honors for the spring semester. The last eight semesters dating back to Fall 2015 have yielded eight of the top-10 semester GPA’s since tracking data began in 1993. For just the fourth time, more than 100 Govs earned a spot on the Dean’s List, with 48 posting perfect 4.0 GPA’s for the semester.

APSU Women’s Tennis coach Ross Brown named OVC Coach of the Year, Five Govs earn All OVC Honors

Nashville, TN – Five members of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, along with head coach Ross Brown winning the Coach of the Year award, as announced at the conference banquet, Thursday.

Brown earns his second career OVC Coach of the Year honor, adding to the 2015 award he won with the men’s program.
