Des Moines, IA – Nashville Sounds catcher Tim Federowicz broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning on Friday night, and starter Wes Benjamin and three relievers stymied the Iowa offense, propelling the Sounds to a 3-1 win over the I-Cubs at Principal Park. The Sounds are 4-0 on their final road trip of the season and have won 13 of their last 15 games overall.
The Sounds scored in the first inning and ninth inning, and that was enough for the win. Zack Granite led off the game with a walk, stole second and scored on a double by Andy Ibanez to make it 1-0 against Adbert Alzolay.
Oklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back in a road trip-opening 11-5 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Monday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Matt Davidson started the offensive barrage with a three-run homer off Oklahoma City starter J.D. Martin in the first inning. Andy Ibanez joined the home run derby with a solo blast in the second inning and Patrick Wisdom launched a two-run shot in the eighth. For Davidson, it was his team-leading 28th of the season. Wisdom is one shy of Davidson with 27.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds use a seventh inning three run rally to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-3 at First Tennessee Park Friday night. The win for Nashville was their eighth over the last nine games.
Trailing 3-2 into the bottom of the seventh, the first six batters reached safely for the Sounds. After back-to-back singles to start the inning by Christian Lopes and Nick Solak, Zack Granite’s base hit to center field evened the game at 3-3.
Omaha elected to intentionally walk Ronald Guzman to load the bases and it came back to hurt when Ofreidy Gomez walked Andy Ibanez to force in the go-ahead run.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 4-2 at First Tennessee Park Thursday night. Sounds pitcher Joe Palumbo threw six no-hit innings to lead Nashville to victory. The southpaw’s brilliant outing was backed by three home runs from the offense.
The only baserunners Palumbo allowed came via walks. He issued a two-out walk in the first and a two-out walk in the fourth but escaped both innings with no damage. He struck out seven batters and threw 54 of his 81 pitches for strikes.
Jett Bandy fired up the offense in the second inning when he hit the first of three solo home runs by Nashville on the night. Bandy’s 10th of the season gave the Sounds a 1-0 lead.
Sacramento, CA – The Nashville Sounds get the go ahead run from a Nick Solak solo home run at the top of the ninth to defeat the Sacramento River Cats Monday night at Raley Field.
Solak’s clutch homer was part of a huge night for the Sounds second baseman. The blast came on a 1-1 pitch off Sacramento reliever Dan Winkler. Solak went 3-for-4 with the home run and a double. His single in the fifth inning extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Nashville played from behind for most of the game after Sacramento’s Zach Green launched a two-run homer to left field off Seth Maness in the bottom of the first inning.
Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds cruised to a 5-1 win against the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park Friday night. Patrick Wisdom had three hits, including his 24th home run of the season. Wisdom’s big night at the plate helped the Sounds to the three-game sweep, their second series sweep of 2019.
Wisdom’s long ball was his sixth in his last five games, and his 18th in his last 40 contests. He has homered in five consecutive games.
The designated hitter had previously knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI double in the second inning. The home run was a solo blast and gave Nashville a 2-1 lead after five frames.
Fresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds opened their road trip in California road by rocking the Fresno Grizzlies 12-2. Zack Granite recorded four hits in the game and Patrick Wisdom hit two two-run home runs.
Granite’s first-of-four hits came in the first at bat of the game when he hit a leadoff triple. Andy Ibanez hit him in on a sacrifice fly to give Nashville a 1-0 lead in the first.
Two more runs scored in the third inning for the Sounds. Granite hit his second triple of the game and was knocked in again by Ibanez on a single. He would later score on a Nick Solak single to push Nashville’s lead to 3-0.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds had 15 hits in 7-6 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes Sunday night at First Tennessee Park. Albuquerque left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with one out but were unable to complete a late-inning comeback.
The Sound scored first in the bottom of the first inning when Matt Davidson hit an RBI ground out that scored Andy Ibanez. The Isotopes responded with two runs in the top of the second inning on a two-run home run by Drew Weeks, taking the 2-1 lead.
Nashville, TN – Nashville Sounds Ronald Guzman hits grand slam in the second inning to give team an early lead. The Sounds hung on for a 7-6 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas in front of 6,828 fans Wednesday night at First Tennessee Park Wednesday.
With a 1-0 lead and the bases loaded in the second, Guzman drilled a 1-2 pitch from Dietrich Enns into the Vanderbilt Health Picnic Place in right-center for a grand slam and 5-0 lead. It was the second grand slam by a Nashville hitter in 2019, and Guzman’s first long ball with the team.
San Antonio, TX -The Nashville Sounds fell to the San Antonio Missions 7-5 at Nelson W. Wolff Stadium Wednesday night. The loss was the Sounds fourth straight.
Nashville was in charge by a score of 4-2 when San Antonio plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take control. The Missions never trailed the rest of the way.
For the fifth consecutive game, the Sounds allowed at least one run in the first inning. Starter Austin Bibens-Dirks battled control issues early when he uncorked a wild pitch allowing the first run of the game and a bases-loaded walk to give the Missions a 2-0 lead after one inning.
