Brentwood, TN – Ninety-five Austin Peay State University student-athletes were recognized on the Ohio Valley Conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll for their academic achievements during the 2013-14 academic year. That total included 15 student-athletes who received the league’s Academic Medal of Honor.
“The greatest metric of our success at Austin Peay is our commitment to excellence in the classroom,” said van der Merwe. “The student-athletes at this great University are special and represent the very best of the Ohio Valley Conference. We are proud of what this says about our student-athletes, our University, and the many great faculty and staff to rally behind our students every day.”

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 313 student-athletes posted a 2.914 grade-point average during the recently completed Spring 2014 semester, the athletics department announced Wednesday.
The 2.914 cumulative GPA accumulated by the department’s student-athletes was the eighth-best mark in program history. It also is the fifth consecutive semester the group posted a 2.90 GPA or better.

Dallas, TX – Seven senior Austin Peay State University football players part of The 2014 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, comprised of college football players from all divisions who maintain a 3.2 GPA or better.
Defensive lineman Reese Bulmash, linebacker/fullback Josh Carroll, offensive lineman Kyle Harrison, linebacker Jared Sexton, defensive end Iosua Siliva, offensive tackle Ben Stansfield and offensive tackle Gavin Willisson were chosen.

Clarksville, TN – After a two-game stretch that dropped them from fourth in the OVC overall standings to seventh, Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team (9-16, 6-6 OVC) looks to get back on track when the Lady Govs host the SIU Edwardsville Cougars (8-16, 4-7 OVC), 5:15pm, Saturday, at the Dunn Center in the first half of a doubleheader.

The 2.944 cumulative GPA accumulated by the department’s student-athletes was the fourth-best mark in program history. It also is the third consecutive semester the group posted a 2.90 GPA or better.
Brentwood, TN — Austin Peay State University saw 92 student-athletes recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference as part of its annual academic achievement awards, July 25th.
The OVC annually recognizes those student-athletes who excel in the classroom. The league’s Medal of Honor recognizes those student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average in their conference-sponsored sport.
Clarksville, TN – For all the success found on the field of play during the 2012-13 spring semester, Austin Peay State University student-athletes were just as successful in the classroom.
The department saw 160 student-athletes earn spots on the Spring 2013 Athletics Director’s Honor Roll with a 3.0 GPA or better, a figure that makes up roughly 53 percent of the department’s 299 qualified athletes. Among these, 34 were named to the President’s List – reserved for student’s with a 4.0 GPA – and 83 earned GPA’s of 3.5 or better that placed them on the Dean’s List.

Clarksville, TN – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will make its first trip to Clarksville when Austin Peay serves as host to the Cougars, 7:00pm, Thursday in Dave Aaron Arena.
The Govs played and won against the Cougars last year in Edwardsville in the respective programs’ first meeting. But this time the Cougars come to Clarksville as full-fledged Ohio Valley Conference members and West Division rivals.

Clarksville, TN – Death, taxes, political flip flops are sure things….so is a close football contest between Austin Peay State University and Tennessee State University, at least since the Governors rejoined the Ohio Valley Conference in 2007.
APSU and TSU have played five times since the Governors returned to the Ohio Vally Conference. No game has been decided by more than three points, including last year’s 37-34 Govs win. APSU has outscored TSU 153-148 in those five games, with the Govs having won the last three meetings.
