TWRA announces 2021 Spring Turkey Hunting Starts April 3rd in Most Areas of Tennessee

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2021 spring turkey hunting season is set to open in most areas of the state on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021.

 In an effort to help the turkey population in specific areas, the season starts April 17th in the new Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV) unit (consisting of Dyer County, Lake County, Lauderdale County, Shelby County, and Tipton County) and in Giles County, Lawrence County, Lincoln County, and Wayne County in Middle Tennessee.

TWRA announces Tennessee Young Sportsman Turkey Hunt set for March 27th-28th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The 2021 Young Sportsman Turkey Hunt kicks off the spring hunting season in most areas of the state the weekend of March 27th-28th. The Young Sportsman Hunt will be held later in two areas of the state to benefit struggling turkey populations.

The Young Sportsman Hunt is the weekend of April 10th-11th in the newly formed Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV) unit (consisting of Dyer County, Lake County, Lauderdale County, Shelby County, and Tipton County) and in Giler County, Lawrence County, Lincoln County, and Wayne County.

TWRA announces Deer Harvest Incentive Program offered in Unit CWD

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation have partnered to offer an incentive program to increase the deer harvest in Unit CWD. The program features two levels of rewards to incentivize deer harvest resulting in a free license for the 2021-22 license year.

The top tier first prize would be a free sportsman’s license for 2021-22. Any hunter who harvests four antlerless deer and four antlered deer through January 8th, 2021 would receive a free Sportsman’s license.

Clarksville-Montgomery County under Tornado Watch until late tonight

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Clarksville-Montgomery County as well as parts of Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee until 2:00am CT Sunday morning.

Strong to severe thunderstorms may develop late this afternoon though the greatest chance for severe weather will be from 8:00pm tonight through early Sunday morning. All modes of severe weather are possible, including damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes.

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – I’ve had quite the week catching up with folks in fourteen different counties, all across our great state. Traveling hundreds of miles has allowed me to connect with Tennesseans and hear what’s on their minds.

My fellow Tennesseans have made one thing crystal clear: they are sick and tired of the partisan charades going on in Washington. It was refreshing to hear from local leaders about the real issues our communities are facing, as opposed to the latest outrage overtaking Washington.

Tennessee County Unemployment Rates Increase in July

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) released data that shows July 2019 county unemployment increased in counties across the state.

Montgomery County unemployment in July was 4.8 percent up 0.4 percent from June’s 4.4 percent.

Tennessee Department of Correction reports Escaped Inmate Curtis Watson captured

 

Tennessee Department of CorrectionHenning, TN – Curtis Ray Watson, the escaped inmate charged with the murder of Correctional Administrator Debra Johnson is back in TDOC custody.

The vigilant efforts of search teams from the Tennessee Department of Correction, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), FBI, US Marshal’s, local law enforcement, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), ATF and with helpful tips from the citizens of Lauderdale County led to Watson’s capture at approximately 11:00am on Sunday, August 11th, 2019.
