Nashville Sounds lose 9-3 at Gwinnett Stripers

 

Nashville SoundsLawrenceville, GA – For the second night in a row, the Nashville Sounds outhit the Gwinnett Stripers but lost, suffering a 9-3 defeat on Wednesday night at Coolray Field. The Sounds have suffered four consecutive losses and have dropped to second place in their division after 22 consecutive days with at least a share of first place.

Each time the Sounds scored, Gwinnett answered in the bottom half. In the top of the first, Jamie Westbrook singled to extend his hitting streak to eight games, and Keston doubled to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.

Nashville Sounds fall at Gwinnett Stripers, 2-1

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds could not come up with the big hit in a series-opening 2-1 loss to the Gwinnett Stripers Tuesday night at Coolray Field. The Sounds went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, including a pair of empty opportunities in the ninth inning.

Trailing by a run to start the top of the ninth, Dylan Cozens drew a walk and Luke Maile singled to put a pair of runners on base with nobody out. After Weston Wilson hit into a fielder’s choice to put runners at the corners with one out, Jesse Chavez retired Jake Hager on a soft pop up and struck out Jamie Westbrook to end the game.

Nashville Sounds blow out Indianapolis Indians, 14-1

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Bowden Francis tossed seven dominant, shutout innings and the offense tallied a five-run third inning, four-run sixth inning, and a five-run eighth as the Nashville Sounds pummeled the Indianapolis Indians, 14-1, in front of a crowd of 9,541 Friday night at First Horizon Park.

The 25-year-old Francis allowed as many hits as he collected at the plate – one. He allowed a leadoff double to Anthony Alford in the third but worked around the extra-base hit. He struck out the next two batters and retired the side on a fly-out. Francis went on to retire the final 12 batters he faced.

Nashville Sounds hold off late Columbus Clippers rally for 6-5 victory

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Zach Green led the charge with a first-inning two-run homer, and the pitching held on late to give the Nashville Sounds a 6-5 win over the Columbus Clippers Wednesday night at Huntington Park. The victory in game two of the series extended Nashville’s winning streak to a Minor League Baseball-best eight games.

The game started with Nashville’s Pablo Reyes drawing a walk-off Columbus starter Kevin Herget. After a pair of strikeouts, Green drilled a long two-run homer to deep left field to give Nashville a 2-0 lead. It was Green’s team-leading sixth home run of the season.

Nashville Sounds rally to tie, win in extra inning thriller against Gwinnett Stripers

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds came away with yet another thrilling win at First Horizon Park when they walked off on the Gwinnett Stripers with a 5-4 victory in 10 innings Wednesday night.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 10th with nobody out and the bases loaded, Nashville third baseman Zach Green hit the first pitch he saw to the wall in right field, easily scoring Dee Strange-Gordon with the tying run and Logan Forsythe with the winning run.

Just moments earlier, a wild top of the 10th unfolded with Gwinnett grabbing two runs to take a 4-2 lead.
