Nashville, TN – Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber has announced that the historic and culturally dynamic city of Nashville, Tennessee has been awarded an MLS expansion club.
Nashville’s MLS team will be owned by the investment group, Nashville Soccer Holdings, LLC, led by John R. Ingram, the chairman of Ingram Industries Inc. Ingram’s partners in the soccer club include Minnesota Vikings owners Mark, Zygi and Leonard Wilf, and the Turner Family, managing partners of Nashville-based MarketStreet Enterprises.
As a result of an innovative private-public partnership between the club’s owners and the community, the team will play in a new, 27,500-seat soccer stadium at The Fairgrounds Nashville in the capital city’s artistic Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood.

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Zoo will officially celebrate the opening of its newest exhibit, Southern White Rhino, with an exhibit dedication ceremony on August 2nd, 2017.
The event will include remarks from Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, Nashville Zoo Board Chair Julie W. Walker, Grow Wild Campaign Chair Jennifer Frist and Nashville Zoo President Rick Schwartz.
The addition of Southern white rhinos marks the first rhinoceros species to be housed at Nashville Zoo. The four captive-born white rhinos came from a reserve in South Africa and are now roaming in the former elephant exhibit, African Savannah.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds, in conjunction with Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, Metro Government, the Metro Sports Authority, and the Adventure Science Center, have announced the festivities for the total solar eclipse viewing party at First Tennessee Park on Monday, August 21st, 2017.
For the first time since 1918, a total solar eclipse will sweep across the United States and Nashville is the largest city in its path.
The event will include music from the Nashville Symphony, science demonstrations with fun, hands-on activities from the Adventure Science Center, total solar eclipse viewing, and a separate Sounds baseball game to follow at 4:05pm.
Nissan Stadium to host U.S. National Soccer Team’s opening group round doubleheader in 2017 Gold Cup
Nashville, TN – Nissan Stadium was announced today as one of 14 venues in 13 host cities for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. On July 8th, 2017, Nissan Stadium will host Group B’s opening round doubleheader with the United States National team playing in one of the games.
The other teams involved in the matches will be named on a date to be announced next year. Taking place every two years, the Gold Cup tournament features teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean and is the official championship of the region.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan was elected co-vice chair of the Middle Tennessee Mayors Caucus as the regional partnership of mayors and county executives met this week to choose officers and endorse state action on transportation funding.
The caucus also elected Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson as its new chairman and Metro Nashville Mayor Megan Barry as a co-vice chair. Anderson steps into the position held by Franklin Mayor Ken Moore for the past three years.

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club begins a four-game homestand on Tuesday, May 31st when they welcome the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, the Round Rock Express, to First Tennessee Park.
Going into play today, the Sounds hold a 1 ½ game lead over the Express for first place in the American South Division.

Sounds start season with Eight-Game Homestand
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club begins its 2016 season tomorrow, Thursday, April 7th when they welcome the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Opening Day.
Thursday’s 6:35pm game is the start of a season-opening eight-game homestand at First Tennessee Park. Following the four-game series with the Dodgers, the Sounds welcome the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, for a four-game series scheduled for April 11th-14th.
