Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Last year Austin Peay State University’s first-year head football coach Will Healy and his staff put together one of the best recruiting classes in the country and the way things are shaping up this coming Wednesday, February 1st, may see a second recruiting class that could rival it.

Healy’s first recruiting class was ranked 132 overall nationally among all NCAA Division I schools and fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision – not to mention No. 1 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Rossview Hawks Soccer falls to Mt. Juliet in Region 5-AAA Finals, 3-1

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – For the first time in school history, the Rossview Hawks boys soccer team hosted the Region 5-AAA Finals against the 2013 Region Champion Mount Juliet Golden Bears Thursday, May 15th.

The home field did not help the Hawks withstand the Golden Bears offensive attack. The Golden Bears captured their second Region Championship in a row, defeating the Hawks 3-1.

The Golden Bears frontline pressed the Hawks most of the game. Their speed kept the Hawks on the defensive. Rossview was beat to the ball and lost most of the one-on-one battles.

On the Court With Marlon Scott: Clarksville’s Season Recap for High School Basketball

 

Montgomery County High School BasketballClarksville, TN – High school basketball in Tennessee officially came to a close Saturday, March 15th when the Blackman Blaze (28-6) defeated Oak Ridge to win the boys Class AAA state title.

The win came just one week after the Blackman Lady Blaze (34-1) defeated Ridgeway to capture the girls Class AAA state title. The wins marked the sixth time a school has swept both state titles.

Among the many local teams playing on freshly- raked, red clay, two recent champions squared off for their first game of the season.

Rossview High School’s Baseball Team earns third straight Region 5-AAA final with 5-0 win over Beech

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – Rossview’s Taylor Mahowald held Beech to just two hits on May 13th — in the opening round of the Region 5-AAA tournament — as the Hawks advanced to their third straight Region 5-AAA championship finals, with a 5-0 win over the Buccaneers.

Mahowald only needed 89 pitches in his seven-inning complete-game effort for Rossview (27-10), giving up a two-out single in the second inning and a two-out single in the sixth inning – while striking out eight and walking two.

He also retired 11 straight Beech batters at one point.

Clarksville High School Wildcats meet Wilson Central for the Region 5-AAA Championship Tonight

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School Boy’s Basketball will face Wilson Central at 7:00pm tonight for the Region 5-AAA Championship Game at Northeast High School.

It’s almost a no brainer that everyone playing in a championship game wants to win it.

For either Clarksville High (21-10), the No. 3 team out of District 10-AAA, or Wilson Central (24-5), the No. 3 team out of 9-AAA, a win would mean they would host a Sectional game at home Monday and that’s usually considered the easiest route to the State Tournament.

Clarksville High also gets to Host one more Game

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – The ultimate mission for Clarksville High School Girls Basketball is still the same: Win the Class AAA State Championship.

But the Lady Wildcats had one more immediate goal they wanted to accomplish and thanks to their 63-46 victory over Mt. Juliet in the Region 5-AAA Championship Game Wednesday night they will be able to do it

That goal was to play one more game at home in the William Workman Gym and Clarksville High will do that Saturday at 7:00pm when they host Sectionals against Brentwood, the Region 6-AAA runner up.

Rossview High School Girl’s season comes to an end with loss to Mt. Juliet in Region 5-AAA Semi Finals

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Mt. Juliet Girls advanced to the Region 5-AAA championship game with its 68-38 semifinal victory Monday night over Rossview High School at Northeast High.

Caya Williams led Mt. Juliet (31-3) with 18 points.

Rossview (26-7) was led by Janie White’s 12 points.

Northeast High School falls to Mt. Juliet in Region 5-AAA Quarterfinals

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Northeast High School’s, and ultimately Alex Poythress’, dreams of going to the state tournament were dashed in a Region 5-AAA quarterfinal game by Mt. Juliet 68-61 Friday night at the Eagles Nest.

Mt. Juliet, the District 9-AAA regular season champions put the No. 4 team out of the 9-AAA Tournament, will move on to play Clarksville High School on Tuesday at Northeast High School at 6:00pm.
