«Read the rest of this article» Soldier’s Daughter with Spinal Muscular Atrophy awarded a Canine Assistants Service Dog![]() Jennifer Woody with her daughter Annah Mobus Fort Campbell, KY – Annah Mobus, the 15-year-old daughter of deployed U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Kenneth Woody and mother Jennifer Woody was selected to receive a life-changing gift from the Milk-Bone® Brand last Thursday. Mobus, a Bowling Green Kentucky resident suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and has difficulty performing many everyday tasks such as opening a book, picking up a dropped item, or turning lights on or off. Now her life is about to become a little easier with the help of a new four-legged friend. Barsanti Elementary School’s dedication continues rapid expansion of the Clarksville Base area
![]() Maj. Gen. Olinto Mark Barsanti Named in honor of Maj. Gen. Olinto Mark Barsanti, a highly decorated officer of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division (the Screaming Eagles). During the Vietnam War, Barsanti was the Commanding General charged with Operation Eagle Thrust, the largest and longest military airlift ever attempted into a combat zone. In his 31-year military career, Barsanti also served in World War II and the Korean War. He earned more than 60 awards, medals and commendations, including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Flying Cross and seven Purple Hearts. Barsanti lost his battle with cancer in 1973. ![]() Principal Jennifer Halley; Bette Barsanti Sherman; Col. The Olinto M. Barsanti Elementary School opened its doors to approximately 550 Pre-K through 5th grade students on January 3rd, 2011. Fort Campbell wins “Silver” in Army Communities of Excellence competition
Along with bragging rights, the award brings with it a $500,000 check. The award money can be used only on community projects supporting further community excellence. “I’m very proud of our team of Soldiers, Families, Department of the Army Civilians, contractors and volunteers who continue to make Fort Campbell such a special place to live and serve,” said Fort Campbell and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Commander, Maj. Gen. John Campbell. “This recognition further demonstrates how Fort Campbell continues to meet the challenges of taking care of our Soldiers and Families here at home while simultaneously providing the training resources necessary to ensure success during deployment.
