Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUCharlston, IL – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team saw a two-set lead dissipate before it fell in five sets (25-23, 28-26, 22-25, 16-25, 11-15) to Eastern Illinois, Friday night, in Ohio Valley Conference at Lantz Arena.

Austin Peay (8-15, 5-2 OVC) has struggled on the road this season with just one win in seven previous road outings.

Austin Peay State University’s Lady Govs Volleyball to travel to Illinois

 

Austin Peay State University Sports Information: APSU Volleyball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will look to begin a late-season charge when it travels to Illinois for a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches. The Lady Govs will meet SIU Edwardsville in a 7:00pm, Friday contest at the Vadalabene Center before traveling to Eastern Illinois for a 6:00pm, Saturday contest at Lantz Arena.

Austin Peay (6-16, 4-7 OVC) has won four of its six October matches to climb out of the league’s cellar and move within one game of sixth place – the final spot in the OVC Volleyball Championship – with nine matches remaining in the OVC regular-season race. The Lady Govs will need to begin their move soon to make the tournament and look towards this weekend’s matches, against two teams around them in the standings, to start a late-season charge.

Lady Govs volleyball falls to Eastern Illinois

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team saw its home opener spoiled as visiting Eastern Illinois escaped with a four-set Ohio Valley Conference victory (26-24, 19-25, 20-25, 22-25), Friday night at the Dunn Center.

Austin Peay (2-12, 0-3 OVC) controlled play early in the opening set but nearly squandered the opportunity after building a 23-19 lead only to watch Eastern Illinois rally to tie the set, 24-24. However, the Lady Govs did not surrender the lead and senior outside hitter Ilyanna Hernandez scored consecutive kills to end the set, 26-24.

After long, winding road Lady Govs Open home slate

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After playing 13 matches and spending the season’s first month on the road, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will finally have an opportunity to play in front of its home crowd when it hosts a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches this weekend at the Dunn Center. The Lady Govs will host Eastern Illinois in a 7:00pm, Friday home opener before meeting SIU Edwardsville at 1:00pm, Saturday.

Austin Peay will open its home schedule after a finishing its season-opening road trip with just two wins in 13 tries. The Lady Govs opened OVC play last weekend in “Death Valley” falling to both Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State in four sets. Those losses extended APSU’s current losing streak to six matches.
