23rd Annual Event to Loop through Middle and East Tennessee Regions

Tennessee State Parks 75th AnniversaryNashville, TN – Bicycle enthusiasts across the state are preparing for the annual Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee, which will kick off its 23rd year with a seven-day ride beginning September 8th and will feature a loop through some of Middle and East Tennessee’s most beautiful landscapes.

Originating at Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville, Tennessee, this year’s route will feature a combination of rolling hills, valleys and some flat terrain. Tennessee State Parks First Hikes in Middle Tennessee

 

Tennessee State Parks 75th AnniversaryTennessee – Tennessee State Parks kicked off its 75th Anniversary at the start of the new year with a series of First Hikes all across the state.

Each state park hosted a First Hike to herald in 2012 and the beginning of Tennessee State Parks’ 75th Anniversary celebration.  While hikers had a variety of trail types, distances and interpretive programs to choose from – over the course of two days, approximately 900 participants came out to cover more than 115 miles during these First Hikes across Tennessee.

Standing Stone State Park to Host National Rolley Hole Marbles Championship and Festival September 17th

 

29th Annual Event Draws Country’s Best Players to Tennessee 
 
Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – Standing Stone State Park will host the National Rolley Hole Marbles Championship and Festival on Saturday, September 17th, drawing some of the country’s best players to Tennessee where they will match wit and skills in what is known as the world’s most challenging marble tournament.

In its 29th year, the event includes kids’ games, marble making, a swap meet, tournament play, demonstrations, live bluegrass music and food.

“The Rolley Hole is considered the Super Bowl of marbles,” said Shawn Hughes, park interpretive specialist and coordinator of the tournament.  “It’s one time a year that all the great marble shooters gather to become the stars of the show and battle for the elusive National Title. Nashville, TN – Tennessee State Parks are now offering special winter rates for 360 villas and cabins, along with six state park inns from November 1st, 2010, through February 28th, 2011.  With a Tennessee State Park within an hour’s drive of just about anywhere in the state, families and groups seeking unique recreation opportunities and high-quality accommodations can find the perfect getaway – all at an exceptional value and a bit closer to home.

With a Tennessee State Parks special winter discount, park visitors can stay at one of Tennessee’s six state park inns for $49.95 a night (excluding tax). The inn discount may be used seven days a week and applies to both individuals and groups. At participating inns, guests may add the hot breakfast package for an additional $10.00. A 50 percent discount also is being offered for villas and cabins with a two-night minimum stay. The cabin discount is valid Sunday through Thursday only. «Read the rest of this article»
