Austin Peay State University Women’s Tennis begins 2021 Season Sunday against Central Arkansas

 

APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TN – After last year’s title-defense season for Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis was abruptly ended, the reigning 2018-19 Ohio Valley Conference Champions will take the court for the first time in 331 days when they host Central Arkansas for a 12:00pm, Sunday, January 24th, 2021 match at the indoor courts at Hadley Park in Nashville.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball defeat Central Arkansas, 63-36

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – In just the third meeting in school history, the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team defeated Central Arkansas, 63-36, in Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night with a crowd of 7,278 looking on.
 
After allowing 18 points to the Sugar Bears in the first quarter, Tennessee surrendered just 18 points the rest of the way to give UT Head Coach Kellie Harper her first regular season win on The Summitt. The effort enabled the Lady Vols to improve their record in home openers to 43-3 all-time.

Austin Peay State University Softball plays in Central Arkansas Tournament this weekend

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – For the first time in the program’s 33-year history, Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play games in the state of Arkansas, as they travel to Conway, AR, to participate in the University of Central Arkansas Tournament.

Weather has already forced changes from the original schedule, with the Governors (1-3) now opening play, 11:30am, Saturday morning versus Kansas, followed by two games on Sunday, at 10:00am and 2:00pm, versus South Dakota State and Louisiana-Monroe respectively.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball easily handles Central Arkansas, 77-34

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 12/13 Tennessee made history on defense when it held Central Arkansas scoreless in the fourth quarter and to 10 total second-half points in a 77-34 victory on Thursday night in Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Sugar Bears (3-2) came into the game averaging 78.8 points per game on .504 shooting from the field, but the Lady Vols’ best defensive effort since the season-opening ETSU game limited Central Arkansas to only 23.7 percent shooting from the field. The zero points scored by UCA in the final stanza of the game was the first time UT (7-0) has ever held an opponent scoreless in a quarter. The 10 points allowed in the second half also stood as a program best.

Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan – The 100-degree heat of Afghanistan differed drastically from what the soldiers of Team Denali (1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment) left behind at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

They joined Task Force Thunder (159th Combat Aviation Brigade) at three forward operating bases to bolster aviation assets in southern Afghanistan, beginning in June.

While they are attached to Task Force Lift (7th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment), Team Denali, composed of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, and Companies B (The Sugar Bears) and D, is technically self-sustaining. «Read the rest of this article»
