Austin Peay State UniversityAntwaun MajorsClarksville, TN – Antwaun Majors, a junior on the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Mt. Juliet native was credited with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, in Saturday night’s 23-17 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Cardinal Collegiate next for Govs Golf

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team is looking to build on a strong opening tournament when it plays in Louisville’s Cardinal Collegiate, Monday and Tuesday, at the 7,000-yard Cardinal Club.

Practice rounds for the Cardinal Collegiate begin Sunday, while first and second-round play starts with a 7:30am, Monday, shotgun start. Final-round play is set for 8:30am, Tuesday.

Tarpley named OVC Golfer of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityTrey TarpleyClarksville, TN – Sophomore Trey Tarpley, of the Austin Peay men’s golf team, has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Tarpley finished third at Kentucky’s UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational, Sunday, played at the University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue Course. Tarpley led the Govs to a fifth-place team finish.

“We’re proud of Trey and this is a nice award to receive at the start of the year,” head coach Kirk Kayden said. “He showed that he can play in a clutch situation, Sunday, he really came through for the team. «Read the rest of this article»

Two golfers in top 10, Govs finish 5th at UK tourney

Austin Peay State University GovernorsLexington, KY – Sophomore Trey Tarpley’s final-round 67 was not enough as Austin Peay men’s golf team finished fifth at Kentucky’s UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational, Sunday.

“We’ve got some talented players, that’s for sure,” head coach Kirk Kayden said. “We just didn’t get them all going today. This is a team that could see any one of these guys be at the top any day.”

APSU Golf Govs in third after two rounds at Big Blue

Austin Peay State University GovernorsLexington, KY – Sophomore Anthony Bradley shot par twice and has Austin Peay State University men’s golf team in third place with a two-round 589 at Kentucky’s UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational.

Bradley’s two-round 142 (71-71) has him fourth place, individually. Junior Dustin Korte fired a one-under par 70 in the second round for a two-round 147, which has him t-15th. Sophomore Trey Tarpley is two shots behind Korte with a 149, followed by sophomore Marco Iten at 152 and senior Drew Miller at 154.

Big Blue begins Golf Govs fall season

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team begins its fall season with the 2011 UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational, Saturday, hosted by the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, KY.              

The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at the University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue Course – a par-71, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills-designed championship course. Play begins at 8:30am, Saturday, with the first two rounds in continuous play, followed by a final-round action, 8:00am, Sunday.
