CTS Bus system will provide free rides to attract new users
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Transit System and the City of Clarksville are offering free rides next week to show off the convenience and comfort of the City’s transportation service.
CTS Try Transit Week, June 18th-June 23rd, 2018 is designed to encourage new riders to try the bus. All of the system’s standard routes are included in the free transportation offer.
“Some people want to use transit, even just a few times a week, but they may be intimidated to try it for the first time,” CTS Director Arthur Bing said. “We’ve created this week to provide that opportunity to learn about our system.”
Citizens are invited to become City explorers on routes that provide safe daily transportation to many parks, pools, and recreation centers operated by the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department. A full list of Parks and Recreation programs and activities is available at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec
The bus routes also offer access to the public library, the Roxy Regional Theatre, the Customs House Museum, historical sites and special events.
CTS’s standard routes operate from 4:30am to 9:00pm Monday to Saturday; the downtown Transit Center is open Monday-Friday 5:30am to 8:00pm and Saturday 6:30am to 8:00pm. Route information is available online at www.cityofclarksville.com/index.aspx?page=734
“Using transit is a safe, easy way to get where you need to go,” Bing said. “Instead of sitting in traffic, transit keeps you moving, plus you get a break from gas prices and paying for parking.”
National Dump the Pump Day, which falls during CTS’s Try Transit Week on June 21st, is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to take them where they need to go, instead of driving a vehicle.
The national movement started in June 2006 when gas prices were $3.00 per gallon. This day emphasizes that public transportation is a convenient travel option that also helps people save money and is good for the environment by reducing harmful emissions in the air.
