Fort Campbell Currahees conduct Mass Casualty Exercise

Khowst Province, Afghanistan – With smoke billowing in the distance and loud speakers blaring instructions, soldiers with the 4th Brigade Combat Team “Currahee”, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), conducted a mass casualty exercise during the late afternoon hours on Forward Operation Base Salerno, August 6th.

“Today we are testing the functionality and the ability to react under the most austere situation possible on the FOB,” said Staff Sgt. Marcus Freeman, a combat medic, with Charlie Company, 801st Brigade Support Battalion, 4th BCT, 101st Abn. Div.

Fort Campbell Currahees emphasize Motorcycle Safety Awareness

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionThe CurraheesFort Campbell, KY – Soldiers with 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, participated in a 4th BCT Motorcycle Safety Awareness class as part of the brigade’s observance of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, May 15th, 2013 at Fort Campbell, KY.

Approximately 30 motorcycle owners representing all the battalions and various levels of rider experience within the brigade, assembled with their personally owned motorcycles to discuss safe practices when operating a motorcycle.

2nd Brigade, Strike wins Week of the Eagles Softball Tournament

Fort Campbell, KY – Rain and lightning may have canceled all the softball games Monday, but it did little to dampen the spirits of the players.

Competitors showed up to muddy fields Tuesday morning ready to play in the Week of the Eagles 2012 Softball Tournament at North Sports complex here.

Thirteen teams representing the various brigades, division, medical, chemical and military police played strongly, but in the end 2nd Brigade Combat Team came out the winner of the tournament against 4th Brigade Combat Team.

Purple Heart Ceremony

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) held a Purple Heart Ceremony for two young heroes December 15th at the Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Battalion. Sgt. Joseph Sandlin received the medal for wounds received in action in Afghanistan. Retired Sgt. Cory Perrin was awarded the medal for wounds received in action while deployed to Iraq.

Brig. Gen. Jeffrey N. Colt 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Deputy Commanding General for Support presided over the ceremony and pinned the soldiers with their Purple Heart medals.

Currahee celebrates Independence Day

The CurraheesFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionPaktika Province, Afghanistan – Task Force Currahee, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, celebrated Independence Day with a barbecue and music, July 4th while deployed to Forward Operating Base Sharana, Paktika Province, Afghanistan.

With their deployment nearing its end, Currahees spent their time during the barbecue mingling and celebrating their return to the states.

“This holiday is one to remember,” said U.S. Army Pfc. Brendan J. Reilly, a brigade fires radio telephone operator from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th BCT, and native of Waukegan, IL.

Task Force Currahee team up with religious leaders to spread message of peace

The CurraheesFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionPaktika Province, Afghanistan—The 4th Brigade Combat Team and the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion Religious Support Teams attended a religious Shura June 8th at Forward Operating Base Rushmore, Afghanistan.

More than 40 Muslim scholars or mullahs, who are trained in Islam and Islamic law, and are interpreters of Islam’s sciences, doctrine, laws, the chief guarantors of continuity in the spiritual and intellectual history of the Islamic community attended.
