Instant Peay Play: Month-long road trip faces APSU Men’s Basketball after home opener

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) men’s basketball team opens its 2018-19 regular season at home this Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 at the Dunn Center with a 7:00pm contest versus Oakland City, but then packs it bags for a month-long, seven-game road trip.

The extended road swing for the Governors will be the longest such stretch of games for APSU in the regular season since the beginning of the 2010-11 season, when they opened their schedule with nine straight games away from Clarksville – including two Ohio Valley Conference contests.

OVC Media Day means APSU Basketball is right around the corner

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With Austin Peay State University (APSU) Men’s and Women’s basketball coaches and selected players joining the other Ohio Valley Conference schools in Evansville, IN, on October 23rd, 2018 at the conference’s media day it can only mean that basketball season is right around the corner.

While getting the conference’s head basketball coaches and top players together in a room with the print, radio, TV and digital media to discuss their teams and outlooks for the upcoming season will be a big part of what goes on during media day, the conference will also release its official preseason poll and All-OVC team — as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

APSU Men’s Basktetball adds Jabari McGhee to 2018-19 roster

APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – The final piece of the puzzle for the 2018-19 Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball roster has been found in Jabari McGhee, a 6-7 forward from Albany, Georgia.

McGhee was last at Western Kentucky, where he appeared in 21 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2016-17 after becoming eligible in December following a transfer. In fact, he put in 12 minutes against the Govs in a December 28th contest that season, hitting 3-of-4 from the floor and grabbing four rebounds.

APSU Men’s Basketball add Jarrett Givens for 2018-19 Season

APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Jarrett Givens, a rangy guard from Tempe, Arizona, will join the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Men’s Basketball team as a grad transfer from Adams State.

Givens spent two seasons at the Alamosa, Colorado institution, averaging 12.4 points on 45.7 percent shooting as a junior last season as Adams State advanced to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.

APSU announces Shane Showalter as new Lady Govs Softball Coach

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TNShane Showalter, who has been Austin Peay State University assistant softball coach for the past three seasons, has been named as Lady Govs head coach for the 2015-16 season.

That was announced Monday by APSU interim athletics director Cheryl Holt.
