City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan addressed a patriotic assembly at Rossview Middle School, celebrated military veterans with a proclamation at Clarksville Senior Citizens Center, and attended a breakfast fundraiser for “SAFE: Soldiers and Families Embraced” on Thursday as she helped groups across Clarksville get in the spirit of Veterans Day.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan attended a Veterans Day assembly at Rossview Middle School on Thursday and met Tanner Fowers and her parents. During the assembly, Tanner read her moving essay, which won the Kiwanis Club Veterans Day Essay Content.

Volunteer Clarksville & Clarksville Sunset Rotary invites community out to paint a commemorative tile for the Pillars of Hope Memorial Art Project

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The Pillars of Hope is a commemorative piece of public art to honor and remember those who serve. The project began in 2012, a collaborative project of Volunteer Clarksville and Hand on Nashville with support from the Corporation for National and Community Service, and part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance initiative.

The effort was first established to inspire the tradition of engaging in charitable service on 9/11 as an annual and forward-looking tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks.

“The Pillars of Hope” memorial art project is meant to help people of all ages express their reactions to the September 11th event and to celebrate the spirit of service and unity. «Read the rest of this article»

City Council Special Budget Session, June 23rd – Continued

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – As you may recall, I had requested that Mayor McMillan establish a committee or review of how the city determined and funded non-profit requests shortly after she took office.  The amounts given and the organizations that received funding was historically a closed effort.  The same basic groups kept receiving the funding. 

Then it seemed that in recent years one group or another would be added without any set guidelines as to why they should be allowed to compete when others were not.  My goal was to change this process before the mayor submitted her first budget. «Read the rest of this article»

Mayor’s Fitness Event to Feature Mission Clarksville Garden

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will have the second of her fitness events immediately following Mission Clarksville’s Passing of the Shovel ceremony at 4:00pm. Friday at the group’s community garden on Mount Carmel Road.
