Danville, KY – I discovered the Kentucky State Barbeque Festival quite by accident.
On a trip home from another assignment, I had the greater part of a day to kill. In a search for events in Kentucky, I discovered this festival. It was already in progress, and it was on my way home, so I took a beautiful ride through the Kentucky countryside and discovered Danville, Kentucky.
Danville has a population of just under 17,000. In 2011, Money Magazine placed Danville as the fourth best place to retire in the United States.
It’s the home to Centre College, which hosted the U.S Vice Presidential debates in 2000, and 2012.

Cunningham, TN – Last Saturday, July 27th, 2019, the Central Civitan held the 111th Annual Lone Oak Picnic at the Central Civitan Club building located at 275 Highway 13.
This free event featured live music, inflatables for the kids, face painting, silent auction, a car cruise in and off course the BBQ the picnic is famous for.

Clarksville, TN – It had been raining early in the morning and rain was forecasted all day, but it let up during the Hilltop Supermarket 2019 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off. The event was held Saturday, May 4th.
“The weather actually turned out great. We thought it was going to pour down all day,” said Cody Jackson, Hilltop Supermarket. “It was a little cloudy with a few drops of rain but it wasn’t bad at all. We got lucky.”
Clarksville, TN – On Friday night, May 3rd, 2019, Hilltop Supermarket kicked off their 2019 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off with a party, food, live music and the 2nd annual Country Kids Cook-Off. The weather was really nice despite rain earlier in the day and an overcast sky.
“The weather has been excellent. Considering what it’s been calling for all week and the cloud cover today, it was absolutely excellent,” stated Cody Jackson, Hilltop Supermarket. “There has not been a rain drop yet. The Lord blessed us today.”
Big Fish Mickey Fisher Memorial
Clarksville, TN – This July 13th and 14th, 2018 the Big Fish Mickey Fisher Memorial will celebrate its 9th annual golf tournament and BBQ & Auction. These events are the sole funding of The Big Fish Scholarship which awards $20,000 to a child of a Fort Campbell soldier to further their education at Austin Peay State University.
This May Mary Fisher awarded Savannah Rye of Northwest High School 2018’s scholarship. Savannah is the 7th to receive the honor.
The cook off was held in honor of Dwayne Byard who past away three years ago. Proceeds from the event went towards a scholarship fund for Dwayne’s grandchildren.
Seventeen teams competed for trophies and cash prizes. There was BBQ, ribs and more for sale.
Clarksville, TN – On Friday night, May 4th, 2018, Hilltop Supermarket held their 1st annual Country Kids Cook-Off. The event is part of the 2018 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off.
Hundreds of people attended the event despite the overcast skies and chance of rain. The rain held off and it turned into a wonderful night.
“This is just an all around good community event right here at Hilltop and always appreciated what they do to bring the community together,” said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson.
