Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will be holding a press conference March 6th at the Dunn Center – on the court that bears his name — to not only announce the retirement of long-time head men’s basketball coach Dave Loos, but to also celebrate one of the greatest legacy’s any coach at any Ohio Valley Conference institution.
For the last 27 years, Loos has patrolled the sidelines of basketball courts in the OVC accumulating an all-time conference best 421 victories, over 100 wins more than the prior all-time win’s leader Cal Luther – who finished with 319 victories in 1999.

ATHENS, Ohio—John Fraley knocked down two free throws with 0.8 seconds left to lift Austin Peay State University to a 68-66 non-conference victory against Ohio, Wednesday night, in basketball action played at the Convocation Center.
The victory was the 320th Austin Peay victory for Govs’ coach Dave Loos, allowing him to move past Cal Luther (Murray State, 1958-74, UT Martin 1992-99) for most wins while coaching in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Dave Loos Show will return to the Blackhorse Pub and Brewery on Franklin Street in historic downtown Clarksville, 6 p.m., Monday.

Senior Wesley Channels scored 20 points to lead Austin Peay men’s basketball team to a 73-60 Ohio Valley Conference win against Eastern Illinois, Saturday, at the Dunn Center. The victory was APSU coach Dave Loos’ 319th win as Governors head man, tying Cal Luther (Murray State 1958-74; UT Martin, 1992-99) for most victories while coaching in the OVC.

Senior guard Wesley Channels redeemed himself by scoring eight overtime points to lead Austin Peay State University to a 76-71 Ohio Valley Conference-opening victory against Southeast Missouri, Thursday night, in Dave Aaron Arena.
The victory provided Austin Peay head coach Dave Loos his 400th career coaching victory. Loos is in his 24th head-coaching season, 20th at APSU. It also was his 200th OVC win. But the victory came a little more difficult than Loos would have liked.«Read the rest of this article»
Austin Peay State University has been picked to finish third in a preseason Ohio Valley Conference poll of league coaches and sports information directors. In addition, senior guard Wesley Channels has been voted preseason All-OVC.
That was announced Thursday in a basketball preseason media-day teleconference.
The Governors, who finished tied for second in the OVC a year ago at 13-5 and lost in the league tourney championship game, received 114 points, leaving them behind league co-favorites Morehead State and Murray State, which not only received 10 first-place votes each but finished with 154 points as well.
Austin Peay has had tremendous success in the league over the last decade, including advancing to the OVC Tournament Championship game in six of the last seven seasons.
