Nashville Sounds defeat Oklahoma City Dodgers, 4-3

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds hold off a late Oklahoma City Dodgers rally for a 4-3 win Monday night at First Tennessee Park. Sounds’ left-handed pitcher Joe Palumbo matched a season-high with 10 strikeouts and limited the Dodgers to one unearned run to lead Nashville to victory.

It was Palumbo’s first start at First Tennessee Park. He joined Nashville on the recent road trip after spending most of his season with Double-A Frisco.

Nashville Sounds defeat Memphis Redbirds, 6-5

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds first baseman Matt Davidson belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Sounds a 6-5 win over the visiting Memphis Redbirds Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville trailed 5-2 after Memphis outfielder Tyler O’Neill drilled a two-run homer into The Band Box in the top of the seventh inning.

The Sounds rallied immediately in the home half when Andy Ibanez found the gap in right-center for a one-out double. Willie Calhoun followed with a sharp ground ball into right field to score Ibanez from second to make it 5-3.

Nashville Sounds score in bottom of the ninth to beat Oklahoma City Dodgers, 3-2

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Steve Lombardozzi’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Nashville Sounds to a 3-2 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers in front of 7,105 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday afternoon.

Lombardozzi hit the first pitch he saw from Adam Liberatore down the left field line and off the wall to easily score Jake Smolinski from third. The inning began with a sharp single to left field by Smolinski and continued when Beau Taylor was hit by a Liberatore pitch.

Sheldon Neuse dropped down a sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third with one out.

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – The strikeout bug bit the Nashville Sounds Saturday night as they fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers 4-2. Sounds batters struck out 16 times to set a new season-high.

The Sounds were unable to muster anything offensively against Oklahoma City starter Dennis Santana. The pitching prospect, making his Triple-A debut, mowed through the Sounds lineup, striking out 11 batters in six innings to match a career-high. Santana’s counterpart on the mound, James Naile, took a tough luck loss after tossing his fourth quality start of the season. He allowed three runs but just one was earned in his seven innings of work. Naile retired the final 10 batters he faced.

Nashville Sounds get 8-4 road win over Oklahoma City Dodgers

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Nick Martini flexed his muscles with a pair of home runs to lead the Nashville Sounds past the Oklahoma City Dodgers 8-4 Saturday night. Jake Smolinski’s four-hit night and Kendall Graveman’s efficient pitching aided the Sounds as well.

Martini got the third inning started by pulling a solo blast over the right field fence to give Nashville a 2-0 advantage. He then showed off his power with an opposite field three-run shot in the sixth that pushed the Sounds’ advantage to 8-2. He became the fourth Sounds player this season to homer twice in a game.
