Dodging the Roadkill: Pop’s Travel Center

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyLacon, AL – Along Interstate 65, between Huntsville and Birmingham Alabama, just off exit 318, sits a welcome site.  Pop’s Travel Center.  It’s the only business at this exit and it’s well worth the visit.

I discovered this place quite by accident.

While riding my Harley back home to Tennessee last year, I was getting “drowsy” and had a bit of an appetite, so the next exit, 318, I pulled off to take a break.

I was greeted by a Stuckeys and a family restaurant.  Having grown up visiting Stuckeys when we traveled,  it was a welcome site.

Bon Aqua, Tennessee Rises on the Legend of Johnny Cash

TravelNashville, TN – As the writers of this article we spent the majority of our lives in New Jersey before relocating to Tennessee in late 2015. Being lifelong residents of the Garden State it was almost mandatory compulsory behavior to be a fan of its famous favorite son, Bruce Springsteen – and we were.

But, our fascination with the man centered mainly around his interest in helping with the revitalization and restoration of the shore town that put him on the map in the first place – Asbury Park.

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – On Saturday, April 26th, at 1:30pm, the Backroad Brigade took the Courthouse Stage at the 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival playing in front of a large audience.

I first noticed the band, while I was walking up Franklin Street. I heard their music coming from down North Second street, rock and roll with a blues kind of edge.

Clarksville, TN – Walker and Judy McCutcheon are big Elvis Presley fans.

HUGE!

And if you know the two retired Fort Campbell school teachers, then you know what a big understatement that is.

But their love and appreciation of the music of their generation, runs deeper than just the legend the world knows simply by his first name….Elvis.
