UT Lady Vols Basketball late rally falls short at Alabama Crimson Tide

UT Lady VolsTuscaloosa, AL Bashaara Graves led Tennessee with 15 points, but the Lady Vols could not battle back from an 11-point halftime deficit, falling to Alabama, 54-46, on Thursday at Foster Auditorium.

The loss ended Tennessee’s (16-12, 7-8 SEC) 42-game winning streak against Alabama (15-13, 4-11) and marked the Lady Vols’ first-ever loss in Tuscaloosa. UT’s last loss to Alabama entering Thursday was on March 3rd, 1984.

Graves finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Mercedes Russell recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jaime Nared added 13 points and seven boards.

UT Lady Vols Basketball at Alabama Crimson Tide, Thursday

Tuscaloosa, AL | Foster Auditorium

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN   The Tennessee Lady Vols (16-11, 7-7 SEC) will play their final road game of the season as they look to sweep Alabama (14-13, 3-11 SEC) . Tipoff is slated for 7:30pm CT/8:30pm ET at Foster Auditorium and the game will be available on SEC Network + (Online) and WatchESPN.

Additionally the game will also be a part of SEC Network’s Whip-Around coverage. The multi-game TV coverage will alternate between the seven games being played, 7:00pm-11:00pm ET.

Every SEC women’s team is featured in the television presentation. SEC Now will recap the events with highlights at 11:00pm, as well as news and information from the day.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Volleyball to play in Hampton Inn Bama Bash Tournament this weekend

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsTuscaloosa, AL – For the second consecutive season, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will compete in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash, hosted by Alabama, this weekend at Foster Auditorium.

Austin Peay (2-8) has been playing a frenetic schedule with 10 matches in the season’s first 11 days. The Lady Govs will tack on four more matches in this weekend’s event, beginning with a 2:00pm, Friday contest against East Tennessee.

Lady Govs volleyball battles in season opener, falls in four sets

 

APSU Sports: Women’s Volleyball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsTuscaloosa, AL – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team opened the 2011 campaign with a four set loss (19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 21-25) at Alabama, Friday night, in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash at Foster Auditorium.

After losing a first set in which it never led, Austin Peay (0-1) showed its resiliency in the second set. The Lady Govs trailed 5-3 only to watch Alabama surrender consecutive points on errors to tie the set. Moments later, senior outside hitter Ilyanna Hernandez and freshman setter Cami Fields scored back-to-back kills to give Austin Peay a 7-5 lead.
