Nashville Sounds lose 8-5 to New Orleans Zephyrs Sunday afternoon at Greer Stadium

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Despite twice rallying to tie the game Sunday at Greer Stadium, the Nashville Sounds were unable to keep up with the New Orleans Zephyrs, who defeated the home team by the score of 8-5. The Nashville loss gives New Orleans the series win with still one game to go.

Knotted up at four runs apiece in the seventh inning, the Zephyrs worked a run off reliever Johnnie Lowe (0-1), who was in to pitch his fourth inning and final inning, as Kyle Skipworth connected for a two-out, RBI-double that gave New Orleans a lead they never relinquished.

Nashville Sounds slip past the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-2

 

Caleb Gindl Drives In Pair and Dayton Buller Homers in Winning Effort

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds edged the New Orleans Zephyrs by a 3-2 margin on Sunday evening at Zephyr Field.

The win was the league-leading 22nd one-run victory of the year for the Sounds (45-56).

Second baseman Eric Farris paced the Nashville offense with a 3-for-4 effort to extend the Sounds’ longest active hitting streak to five games, the infielder’s sixth hit streak of five games or greater this season. Farris, who also stole a pair of bases in the contest, is batting .347 (33-for-95) over his last 28 contests.

Nashville Sounds lose to the New Orleans Zephyrs 10-6

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds dropped a 10-6 slugfest to visiting New Orleans Zephyrs on Monday evening at Greer Stadium. The loss was the Sounds’ seventh in the last eight games.

Nashville (21-36) gave up a season-high four Zephyrs homers in the loss, including two from catcher Clint Sammons.

New Orleans starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc (3-4) allowed two runs on six hits while fanning six in seven innings for the victory. The left-hander also doubled in and scored a run from the dish.

Nashville Sounds defeat the New Orleans Zephyrs for First Home Win

 

Caleb Gindl, Martin Maldonado Power Nashville Sounds To 9-5 Victory

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Caleb Gindl’s three-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Nashville Sounds the lead for good en route to a 9-5 victory over the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium.

The Sounds (3-7) snapped a two-game skid and picked up their first home victory of the year despite being out-hit, 13-7, in the contest. The loss snapped a PCL-best five-game winning streak for the Z’s.

Martin Maldonado, who homered, and Edwin Maysonet each had two hits to join Gindl in powering the Sounds’ offense in the win.

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The New Orleans Zephyrs scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of first baseman Ben Lasater, to hang a 6-2 defeat on the Nashville Sounds on Thursday evening at Zephyr Field in the first game of each clubs’ season.

With the score tied at 1-1, the Z’s erupted for five runs against the Nashville bullpen in the eighth. Four of the scores came against Sounds left-hander Victor Garate (0-1), who spent the 2011 season with New Orleans.

Sounds Take Second Straight In Salt Lake, 5-2

 

Nashville SoundsSalt Lake City, Utah – The Nashville Sounds won their third straight game on Friday evening at Spring Mobile Ballpark, defeating the Salt Lake Bees by a 5-2 margin.

Sounds third baseman Chris Nowak (2-for-4) spotted the visitors a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, drilling Ryan Ketchner’s 3-1 offering over the left field wall for a one-out solo homer. It was the infielder’s first roundtripper of the year.

Salt Lake evened the contest at 1-1 in the home half of the fourth when Andrew Romine drew an inning-opening walk from Sounds starter Amaury Rivas then later scored on a groundout.
