Clarksville, TN – It’s finally here.
Austin Peay State University football team begins its 2015 regular season campaign 4:00pm, Saturday, when the Govs host Mercer at Governors Stadium—the first time Austin Peay has opened the regular season at home since 2010.
Entering head coach Kirby Cannon‘s third season, a still-youthful Austin Peay squad looks to pull the Governors out of a tailspin that’s seen them in the Ohio Valley Conference cellar for the better part of the decade.
Clarksville, TN – Forty-three Austin Peay State University student-athletes participated in Spring Commencement ceremonies, Friday, at the APSU Dunn Center.
The following Austin Peay student-athletes, athletics alumni and departmental employees were bachelor’s degree candidates for the May 2015 Commencement.

Saturday’s contest not only will be the final home appearance for the seniors but the final time those 18 will represent APSU on the football field.

Martin, TN – A week after most everything went right for Austin Peay State University’s football team in defeating Murray State, the Govs literally could not get out of their own way against UT Martin, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action.
The Skyhawks took advantage of two interceptions and one fumble to roll past the Governors 37-7, during homecoming action at Hardy Graham Stadium.

Macon, GA – Well, at least Mercer isn’t ranked in the Football Championship Subdivision.
After playing back-to-back Top 25 FCS team in the last two weeks in Illinois State and Eastern Kentucky—and three out of the last four weeks—the Governors will play Mercer, 3:00pm CT, Saturday, at Mercer University Stadium.

Clarksville, TN – Bennie Coney connected with Jeff Glover on a 42-yard Hail Mary pass to end the first half and Eastern Kentucky carried that momentum into the second half as the No. 18/19 Colonels defeated Austin Peay State University, 31-0, Saturday night, in Ohio Valley Conference action in Governors Stadium.

Clarksville, TN – Coming off its first below-.500 season in five years, Illinois State has opened 2014 with a vengeance.
The Redbirds began the season with a 62-0 win against Mississippi Valley but more impressively they came back the next week to manhandle Eastern Illinois, 34-15. That is the same Eastern Illinois team APSU lost to last weekend in Charleston, 63-7.

Charleston, IL – For a second straight week Austin Peay State University had trouble controlling a quarterback.
Last week, Chattanooga’s Jacob Huesman passed for 224 yards against the Governors. This week the Governors had trouble controlling the legs and arm of Eastern Illinois quarterback Jalen Whitlow.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay will open Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend when it travels to Charleston, Illinois, to play defending champ Eastern Illinois in a 1:30pm contest at O’Brien Field.
The two-time OVC champ, EIU comes in a surprising 0-3 record after losing to Illinois State, 34-15 on the heels of previous losses to Minnesota, 42-20, and Southern Illinois, 38-21. The Panthers, however, have won 12 straight OVC contests.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Junior Jessica Cathey, of Austin Peay State University women’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Cathey was under 80 in all three rounds at the Jan Weaver-Murray State Invitational, shooting a 225 (76-74-75) to finish sixth overall, leading the Lady Govs to a tie for eighth.
