Nashville Sounds get 4-2 win against Omaha Storm Chasers at First Tennessee Park

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 4-2 at First Tennessee Park Thursday night. Sounds pitcher Joe Palumbo threw six no-hit innings to lead Nashville to victory. The southpaw’s brilliant outing was backed by three home runs from the offense.

The only baserunners Palumbo allowed came via walks. He issued a two-out walk in the first and a two-out walk in the fourth but escaped both innings with no damage. He struck out seven batters and threw 54 of his 81 pitches for strikes.

Jett Bandy fired up the offense in the second inning when he hit the first of three solo home runs by Nashville on the night. Bandy’s 10th of the season gave the Sounds a 1-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds roar back from behind then hold off Sacramento River cats for Win

 

Nashville SoundsSacramento, CA – The Nashville Sounds fell behind in the first half of the game, then came roaring back in seventh for seven runs to defeat the Sacramento River Cats 13-10.

The first runs of the game came from the Sounds in the top of the second inning. Patrick Wisdom led off with a double and Eli White traded places with him, hitting a double himself to score the first run. White would later score on an error to make it 2-0 early.

Sacramento grabbed lead immediately in the bottom of the second inning. Francisco Pena hit a solo home run to give the River Cats their first run. Levi Michael hit a two-run double to take the lead later in the inning to give Sacramento the 3-2 lead.

Nashville Sounds get 5-1 victory at Fresno Grizzlies

 

Nashville SoundsFresno, CA – The Nashville Sounds cruised to a 5-1 win against the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park Friday night. Patrick Wisdom had three hits, including his 24th home run of the season. Wisdom’s big night at the plate helped the Sounds to the three-game sweep, their second series sweep of 2019.

Wisdom’s long ball was his sixth in his last five games, and his 18th in his last 40 contests. He has homered in five consecutive games.

The designated hitter had previously knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI double in the second inning. The home run was a solo blast and gave Nashville a 2-1 lead after five frames.

Nashville Sounds rally in the night for 8-6 win over Fresno Grizzles

 

Nashville SoundsFresno, CA – On Thursday night, the Nashville Sounds broke lose in the ninth inning breaking the 6-6 tie by pushing two runs across the plate for an 8-6 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park.

The Sounds cruised most of the night. They belted four doubles in the first inning against Scott Copeland and led 4-0 right away. Zack Granite, Andy Ibanez and Ronald Guzman had consecutive doubles to start the game, and Christian Lopes smashed a two-run double later in the frame. Then Patrick Wisdom blasted a solo homer in the third to make it 5-0. Wisdom, who also homered twice on Wednesday, has homered in four consecutive games.

Nashville Sounds win hit fest against Albuquerque Isotopes

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds had 15 hits in 7-6 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes Sunday night at First Tennessee Park. Albuquerque left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with one out but were unable to complete a late-inning comeback.

The Sound scored first in the bottom of the first inning when Matt Davidson hit an RBI ground out that scored Andy Ibanez. The Isotopes responded with two runs in the top of the second inning on a two-run home run by Drew Weeks, taking the 2-1 lead.

Albuquerque Isotopes rally late to down Nashville Sounds, 8-4

 

Nashville, TN Nashville SoundsNashville Sounds pitcher Kolby Allard had an excellent game but the team was unable to hold back the Albuquerque Isotopes late in 8-4 loss at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.

In his organizational debut, Allard started and tossed five shutout innings. The left-hander limited the Isotopes to four hits and two walks while recording eight strikeouts. He threw 101 pitches in the no-decision.

A two-out Patrick Wisdom double in the bottom of the fourth inning sparked the first rally. Adam Moore followed and chopped a ball up the third base line for an infield single.

Josh Fuentes’ throw from third got away and allowed Wisdom to score the first run of the game.

Nashville Sounds loses Thursday night to San Antonio Missions

 

Nashville SoundsSan Antonio, TX -The Nashville Sounds jumped out fast, but faded late in 5-3 loss to the San Antonio Missions Thursday night. That completed the sweep for the Missions over the Sounds.

Nashville took the early lead in the top of the first inning. Zack Granite led off with a double and scored on a single by Scott Heineman. He later scored on a single by Nick Solak to give the Sounds a 2-0 lead.

Shelby Miller made the start for the Missions in his first pitching appearance since June 25th with the Texas Rangers before being released. He threw 40 pitches in the first inning and 28 pitches in the second inning.

Nashville Sounds fall at home to New Orleans Baby Cakes, 9-3

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds give up to big innings to the New Orleans Baby Cakes in 9-3 loss Sunday night at First Tennessee Park. The Baby Cakes scored four runs in the fifth and another three runs in the sixth on their way to victory.

New Orleans scored in the first inning on an RBI double by Isan Diaz that scored Eddy Alvarez. That would be the only run scored in the first three innings by either team. The Sounds were close to scoring in the bottom of the third inning when they loaded the bases. The Sounds were unable to take advantage as Baby Cakes’ starter Joe Gunkel struck out Matt Davidson to end the inning.

Nashville Sounds rally late to beat New Orleans Baby Cakes, 3-2

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds first baseman Patrick Wisdom in the bottom of the ninth smacked a two out home run to beat the New Orleans Baby Cakes 3-2 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

The first run of the game was scored by New Orleans in the first inning. Magneuris Sierra led the game off with a single and scored on an Eddy Alvarez double to put the Baby Cakes up 1-0.

Tim Dillard was dominant after the first inning. He struck out a season-high nine batters through six innings. He did allow one more run, in the sixth inning, a solo home run by Austin Dean to give New Orleans a 2-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds defeat Oklahoma City Dodgers, 4-3

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds hold off a late Oklahoma City Dodgers rally for a 4-3 win Monday night at First Tennessee Park. Sounds’ left-handed pitcher Joe Palumbo matched a season-high with 10 strikeouts and limited the Dodgers to one unearned run to lead Nashville to victory.

It was Palumbo’s first start at First Tennessee Park. He joined Nashville on the recent road trip after spending most of his season with Double-A Frisco.
