Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Sophomore Rolando Gautier’s grand slam was the first of three home runs and sophomore Ryan Quick bounced back from a rough first inning as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team won its fifth straight game, 10-2, against UT Martin in Ohio Valley Conference action, Friday night, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball to host the UT Martin Skyhawks this weekend

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team will put its four-game win streak on the line when it hosts UT Martin in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series, Friday-Sunday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The three-game set will begin with a 6:00pm, Friday contest before continuing with a 2:00pm, Saturday affair. The series will conclude with a 1:00pm, Sunday outing.

Errors costly in Govs regular-season finale loss at UT Martin

 

APSU Men’s Baseball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsMartin, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team committed three errors in the eighth inning and dropped its season finale, 7-6, to UT Martin, Saturday, at Skyhawk Field.

Austin Peay (30-22, 17-6 OVC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead through six innings. First baseman John Hogan’s leadoff home run in the second put the Govs on the board. One inning later, Austin Peay scored three runs – two courtesy third baseman Greg Bachman’s single and another on Hogan’s single. Second baseman Jordan Hankins added the fifth run courtesy a solo home run in the sixth.

Baseball: Govs down Skyhawks in series opener

 

APSU Governors LogoAustin Peay State University’s baseball team bent but did not break and held on for a 9-7 victory against UT Martin in Ohio Valley Conference action, Friday night, at Raymond C. Hand Park. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to rain and will be played as part of a doubleheader beginning at noon, Saturday.

Austin Peay (26-25, 6-11 OVC) struck first, scoring four runs in the second inning. Five consecutive batters reached base safely with one out with third baseman Cody Hudson and shortstop Reed Harper each posting two-run singles.

Govs senior starter Stephen Huff, making his final career start, held UT Martin in check through the first three innings, striking out six of the first 10 batters he faced, surrendering only a second inning walk. «Read the rest of this article»
