Austin Peay State University names Marquase Lovings interim head football coach for 2020 season

 

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, July 7th, 2020, Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison named Marquase Lovings as the Governors’ interim head football coach for the upcoming 2020 season.

The move follows the resignation of Mark Hudspeth, Friday, for personal reasons.

“First, I want to thank Mark for his work in moving Governors football to new heights,” said Harrison.

Austin Peay State University Athletics announces renovation to provide all-sport indoor facility

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics department, courtesy of the generous support from its donors, announced plans to reconfigure the current indoor tennis center into an indoor practice facility to benefit the department’s student-athletes.

The new indoor practice facility will provide more than 26,000 square feet of practice space. The surface, installed by Shaw Sports Turf, will be a grass-like material with a sand/rubber infill similar in an updated version of the surface at Fortera Stadium.

Austin Peay State University Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison signs contract extension

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) President Alisa White and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison have agreed to a contract extension through the 2023-24 academic year.

“I am delighted to have Gerald continue as our Director of Athletics,” said White. “Under Gerald’s leadership, our student-athletes have enjoyed great success, both on the field and in the classroom. In these difficult times for our country and university, it is advantageous to have a leader that provides a steady hand, clear guidance, and an exciting future vision. Under Gerald’s continued leadership, I believe we can look forward to great days ahead for the Governors.”

Outstanding 2019 Austin Peay State University Football season honored at Night of Champions

 

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) football players, coaches, alumni and fans gathered Friday night to celebrate the historic 2019 season at the Night of Champions in the Dunn Center.

This event put the final bow on a campaign that yielded the program’s first Ohio Valley Conference title since 1977, its first-ever FCS Playoff appearance and resulting trip to the quarterfinals, as well as the program’s first consensus All-American since 2002 and myriad Coach of the Year accolades for the architect of the success, head coach Mark Hudspeth.

Fort Campbell Soldiers help expand Middle school students knowledge about the Army

Fort Campbell, KY – Middle school students arrived to class, January 28th, 2020 on a standard Tuesday morning, unaware of the special day they had ahead of them.

They entered through the main entrance noticing military vehicles to their left, wondering the purpose of the unusual scenery outside of their standard brick layered middle school in Cadiz, KY.

APSU Football inks 10 during Spring signing period

 

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) football team continued to add depth on both its offensive and defensive lines with three offensive linemen and two defensive lineman among the 10 signees announced during the spring National Signing Day.

The group of 10 joins the group of 10 athletes signed during the December recruiting window to give the Governors and head coach Mark Hudspeth an incoming class of 20 athletes.

Austin Peay State University Football to kick off 2020 at Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff

 

APSU FootballMontgomery, AL – Following a 2019 campaign that saw it reach the NCAA FCS Playoff’s Elite Eight, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 2020 Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff. The Governors will face Central Arkansas in the Saturday, August 29th, 2020 event at the historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
