Nashville Sounds start Seven Game Homestand tonight

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club returns to First Tennessee Park for a seven-game homestand on Monday, August 13th, 2018. The week-long stay at First Tennessee Park is the penultimate homestand of the 2018 season. 

The Sounds welcome the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, for a four-game series from August 13th-16th before hosting the New Orleans Baby Cakes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, for a three-game series from August 17th-19th.

Austin Peay State University’s Dr. Michael Phillips receives inaugural A.J. Taylor Distinguished Professorship

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – After receiving his doctorate from Mississippi State University in 1992, Austin Peay State University Professor of Finance Dr. Michael Phillips found himself in the right place at the right time for an opportunity that would change both his life and a department interested in a fresh perspective.

A California native, Phillips was prepared to look west for a teaching opportunity when a friend suggested Austin Peay contact him for an open teaching position in the College of Business.

Austin Peay State University Professor of Finance, Dr. Michael Phillips received the AJ Taylor Distinguished Professorship. This is awarded to a College of Business faculty member each year who has demonstrated exceptional scholarly work or innovative teaching practices.

Austin Peay State University to face Mississippi State University in NCAA men’s tennis tournament

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN — Austin Peay State University’s men’s tennis team, winners of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, will face Mississippi State in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament.

The Govs (17-3), who won the OVC title for the first time since 1974 will be making its first NCAA Tournament appearance and it will be the first for first-year head coach Ross Brown, who was named to the position last summer.

Northeast High School Baseball 1st Annual First Pitch Steak Dinner December 13th

 

Northeast High School EaglesClarksville, TN – On December 13th, the Northeast High School Baseball will have its 1st Annual NEHS Baseball First Pitch Steak Dinner with Mississippi State University head baseball coach Ron Polk as the featured speaker. Dinner is catered by the Cumberland Grille.

Coach Polk completed 28 seasons as head coach at Mississippi State, and 34 seasons as a collegiate head coach. In 2007 Polk led the Bulldogs to their sixth appearance at the prestigious NCAA College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville High School’s Jessy Ward says Lady Wildcats expect to make it to and win State Championship

 

Clarksville High School senior Jessy Ward will play for Mississippi State next year. She takes a moment to speak with James D. Horne of the Clarksville Sports Network.

Clarksville, TN – Life is going pretty good for Clarksville High right now, the Lady Wildcats improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in District 10-AAA play after they beat Northeast High 89-9 this past Friday night at the Eagles Nest.

It’s just one more small step the Clarksville High team is taking towards a hopeful Class 3A state championship, something that senior guard Jessy Ward hopes happens.

“We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do well,” said Ward, who will be going to play at Mississippi State next fall. “We’re expecting to make it there.”
