TWRA reports One Boating Related Fatality, Nine BUI Arrests during Operation Dry Water
The fatality occurred July 4th on Normandy Lake in Coffee County. According to witnesses, a 61-year-old man from Huntsville, AL, jumped off the back of a ski boat and swam away, but did not return. Individuals attempted to rescue the man.

TWRA reports No Boating Related Fatalities over July 4th Weekend
This year’s holiday period was extended with July 4th falling on a Tuesday. More than 10,700 boats were inspected during the five days. TWRA boating officers made 20 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests. Officers issued 353 citations, and 303 warnings. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports 10 Boating under the Influence arrests during Operation Dry Water
Reports from the TWRA’s four regions resulted in 10 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests across the state. TWRA boating officers checked more than 2,800 vessels, issued 141 citations, 116 warnings, made four other arrests, and assisted 110 boaters. The number of boaters assisted was an increase from 36 in 2014.

TWRA announces 7th Annual Operation Dry Water Weekend to be held June 26th-28th
Operation Dry Water is held on the weekend prior to the Independence Day (July 4th) holiday to give BUI enforcement high visibility during the peak boating season. The TWRA is teaming with the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Operation Dry Water is being held for the seventh year after being started by the NASBLA in 2009.
