Job Market Under President Donald Trump Continues to Crush Expectations in 2020

 

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – New data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) monthly employment situation report confirms that the historically strong U.S. labor market has continued to expand into 2020.

The report’s Establishment Survey finds that the economy added 225,000 jobs in January, crushing market expectations of 158,000 jobs. Including upward revisions to November and December, average monthly employment growth over the past year was a healthy 171,000 jobs.

U.S. Unemployment Rate Falls to Five-Decade Low of 3.5%

 

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – America’s unemployment rate fell to a 50-year low last month, dropping to 3.5 percent and matching a level last seen in December 1969, Alexandra Steigrad reports in the New York Post.

“A more encompassing measure that includes discouraged workers and the underemployed also fell, declining 0.3 percent points to 6.9 percent, meeting its lowest level in nearly 19 years and just off the all-time low of 6.8 percent.”

Tennessee Unemployment Rates Drop in 94 Counties During April

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – According to data released Thursday by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce, unemployment rates for 94 of Tennessee’s 95 counties dropped in April 2019  Development (TDLWD).

Montgomery County unemployment dropped 0.6 percent to 3.0 percent in April from March’s 3.6 percent.
