Nashville Honky Tonks late rally falls short at Round Rock Dance Halls, 6-5

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – For the second night in a row, the Nashville Honky Tonks got home runs from Ramon Laureano and Jake Smolinski and rallied late, only to fall 6-5 against the Round Rock Dance Halls on Saturday night at Dell Diamond. The Honky Tonks have lost three of the first four in the series and the Battle for the Boot and are back to .500 on the season at 27-27.

The Honky Tonks never led in the game but fought back from a 5-0 deficit. Former Nashville pitcher Yovani Gallardo gave up just one run over seven innings against his old team. Smolinski grounded out in the sixth to score Nick Martini to get Nashville on the board.

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX -The Nashville Honky Tonks let two different leads slip away and then had a late rally fall short, losing 6-5 to the Round Rock Dance Halls in Game 3 of a five-game series on Friday night at Dell Diamond. The Honky Tonks now trail two games to one in the series and the second annual Battle for the Boot.

Trailing 6-3 after seven innings, the Honky Tonks fought back with two runs in the eighth against Round Rock reliver Taylor Scott. Steve Lombardozzi delivered a sacrifice fly to plate Sheldon Neuse, and Jorge Mateo grounded out to score BJ Boyd and cut the deficit to 6-5.

Nashville Sounds get road win over Oklahoma City Redhawks 5-1

 

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Mike Fiers continued his early-season dominance on the mound and Hunter Morris belted a three-run home to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 5-3 victory over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Friday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Fiers (4-0) has won each of his four outings this season with quality-start efforts, including a six-inning, one-run performance to defeat the RedHawks. He struck out 10 batters on the night and leads the Pacific Coast League with 36 strikeouts on the year. His ERA stands at an impressive 1.01 through four outings.

Former Nashville Sounds manager Mike Guerrero named Mike Coolbaugh Award winner

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Minor League Baseball™ announced today that it has selected Mike Guerrero, who managed the Nashville Sounds this season, as the winner of the sixth annual Mike Coolbaugh Award, presented to an individual who has shown an outstanding baseball work ethic, knowledge of the game and skill in mentoring young players on the field. The Coolbaugh Award will be presented during the Baseball Winter Meetings™ Banquet on Thursday, December 12th, at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL.
