Clarksville-Montgomery County School System students take home Federal Connect Forms

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – All students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) will be taking home a light blue form this week that is very important to system funding.

This survey is sent out every year to all CMCSS students’ homes to help the school system receive Federal Impact Aid funds.

Federal Impact Aid is a fund set up for school districts where federally owned lands (such as Fort Campbell, government buildings, TVA steam plants, subsidized housing, etc.) are located.

Its intent is to help offset the lost property taxes that would have been collected if businesses or privately owned residences were located there instead and not as a means for funding military dependent children who are served in our school system.

The survey is confidential and has no effect on personal taxes or on those who live in subsidized housing. The School System is asking that every student return a completed form even if they are not federally connected.

Impact Aid funding amounts to about two percent of the cost of educating each student. That would equate to the cost of purchasing textbooks for kindergarten through twelfth grade. Every amount received ultimately benefits students.
