Health Department Expansion

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – The landscape of Madison Street will soon be receiving a new look. The building located at 1300 Madison Street, formally housing the United Way office, will be torn down in the coming days to make way for a Health Department expansion.

The new construction has been designed specifically to compliment the architectural style of the Madison Street Corridor.

The new expansion will be home to a $2.1M WIC Clinic or Women, Infant and Children Clinic. The relocation of the WIC clinic from its current Dunbar Park home will allow Health Department patrons to have access to consolidated services. “We are so pleased to see this project move forward and to be able to offer all of the Health Department services in one convenient location,” County Mayor Carolyn Bowers states.

The demolition of the building on the site property will make way for engineering and construction to soon follow. Much of the buildings interiors, including cabinets, appliances, sinks, etc., were given to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

The demolition will be competed through the combined efforts of Bi-County SWM and the Montgomery County Highway Department.
