Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation presented a case to the Davidson County Grand Jury which resulted in the indictment of two men for their roles in a mid-sate prostitution operation.
Both have been charged with one count each of promoting prostitution and sexual exploitation of a minor which stemmed from a 2010 TBI investigation throughout Middle Tennessee.
On April 16th, 2010, TBI agents and Metro Police executed a search warrant at the Nashville apartment of Thomas Hufford, 55, who was running a photography studio out of his home under the name of Hufford Photography. Evidence from the search supported that Hufford was in possession of child pornography and was promoting prostitution. Hufford was subsequently arrested this weekend.
In August of 2010, TBI agents and Metro Police searched the home of Micah Toland on Branch Oak Trail in Nashville, TN and evidence related to the case was also seized from his home. Toland of “Toland Enterprises” was arrested on April 19th, 2011.
The case began in February of 2010 when agents received information that an underage girl was advertised as a prostitute on Backpage.com. In September 2010, Frank Atwell of Murfreesboro, TN pled guilty to charges of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, promoting prostitution and solicitation of aggravated statutory rape. In May of 2010, there were also individuals from Columbia, TN who were indicted in federal court related to this case.
Both Hufford and Toland were booked into the Davidson County Jail.
