The City of Clarksville to Celebrate Independence Day tonight!

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Aetna Insurance are joining together to celebrating our nation’s independence with the fourth annual Independence Day Celebration tonight down at McGregor Park. The event will be filled with food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. It all starts 6:00pm.

Local performers Tina Brown and Chris Robertson will provide live music throughout the evening, followed by country music artist, John Anderson. With more than 40 singles on the Billboard country music charts, Anderson has five Number Ones: “Wild and Blue,” “Swingin’,” “Black Sheep,” and “Money in the Bank.” The night will end with a spectacular fireworks finale, the largest in Clarksville.

In addition to musical entertainment, vendors will offer a variety of favorite foods, including kettle corn, hotdogs, smoothies, homemade ice cream, cheesecake on a stick, shaved ice, schnitzel and more.

From 3:00pm to 8:30pm, on Sunday, July 3rd, Riverside Drive will only have two lanes open for two-way traffic and then closed off entirely from 8:30pm to 10:15pm. Please see the map below for detours. Guests are encouraged to park at Austin Peay State University Dunn Center parking lot. Clarksville Transit System will provide free rides to and from the designated parking area from 5:30pm to 10:15pm. Buses will load passengers along Marion Street adjacent to the Dunn Center parking lot and drop off at the entrance to the boat ramp at McGregor Park. The last bus will depart from McGregor Park promptly at 10:15pm.

The Liberty Park Boat Ramp, which is normally open from 7:00am to 8:00pm on weekends only, will be accessible until midnight Sunday, July 3rd. Because of the holiday, it will also be available from 7:00am to 8:00pm on Monday, July 4th. The boat ramp and boat docks are the only portions of Liberty Park that will be open to the public at this time. Citizens are asked to not enter the park except to use the boat ramps. The McGregor Park Boat Ramps will be  closed all day on July 3rd.

The following rules are in place for the Independence Day Celebration:

  • No roaming solicitation.
  • No weapons.
  • No pets allowed during event.
  • No drugs or alcoholic beverages allowed.
  • No fighting or foul language allowed.
  • No personal fireworks.

Editor’s Note: Mag’s Coffee on Riverside Drive will also be open late for the evening and will be making their parking lot available for watching the fireworks, for those who would like to avoid the crowds at McGregor Park.
