Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Championship to be held at Clarksville’s McGregor Park

McGregor Park Docks Will Be Closed for the Event Saturday and Sunday

Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest ChampionshipClarksville, TN – The Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Championship will be taking place on the banks of the Cumberland River in Clarksville, Tennessee, October 27th-28th.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and Ken Freeman Outdoor Promotions invite you to see all the action live at McGregor Park. The CVB also wants to announce that the Courtesy Docks located at the park will be closed over the weekend to accommodate the tournament participants.

The Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest is an annual catfish tournament with big competition and big prizes. The 2012 National Championship will be giving away over $25,000 is prizes, including $7,000 for the first place winner, as well as awards for Big Fish of the Event and Angler of the Year. This event is sure to bring out some of the best fisherman in the Southeast, and in the past, celebrity fisherman, such as Bill Dance, have made an appearance.

The last time Clarksville hosted the Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest was in April 2009. At that time over 100 anglers entered the tournament and the prizes were set at nearly $15,000. The event is expected to draw more fishermen than ever to the Cumberland River and the Championship will also be televised for a national audience.

Those interested in participating can sign up at www.bigcatquest.com or call Ken Freeman Outdoor Promotions at 731.234.1888. Registration for the event will be held at the Riverview Inn, 50 College Street in Clarksville on Friday, October 26th from 4:00pm–8:00pm.

The tournament headquarters will be at McGregor Park and the event will be held Saturday, October 27th through Sunday, October 28th. The scales will open at 11:00am and participants will stop fishing at 3:00pm to line up for weigh-in by 4:00pm each day. A two-day comprehensive weigh-in of the best five fish will provide an overall best weight and will decide the 2012 Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Champions.

Those interested in watching the event can park at the north end of the Cumberland RiverWalk, near the River Center and the biggest catfish will be displayed at McGregor Park. Fish will be housed in The Tank, a 53-foot long, 6,000 gallon simulated environment fish tank, allowing viewers to see the catfish up close. Vendors and activities will be available all day at McGregor Park. The entire event is free and open to the public.

This type of event generates a large amount of revenue for the local economy and also promotes recreational tourism in our community.”
