Go Commando Half Marathon & 5k to take place October 19th, 2013

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – The Go Commando Half Marathon & 5k, powered by CDE Lightband, is back for a third year, bringing with it new activities and enhanced features. Runners will take to the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville Saturday, October 19th, 2013.

But those interested in running are encouraged to register early online at www.gocommandoclarksville.com, as the event is only open to the first 2,000 participants.

Course Improvements

The entire event will begin and end at Liberty Park, in front of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. The start and finish line will be located in front of the statue of the famous Clarksvillian herself, three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Wilma Rudolph. The half marathon will begin at 7:30am and the 5k will begin at 8:00am.

For the safetly of the runners, parking will be available outside the park, with free shuttles taking participants to the site. Additionally, new to the line up this year is the Liberty Fun Run, presented by Premier Medical Group.

The Liberty Fun Run is designed specifically for children 10-years-old and younger who want to join in on all the fun and fitness with their family. The Fun Run does not begin until 11:00am allowing parents ample time to run in the other races.

Health & Wellness Expo

New in 2013, the Health & Wellness Expo, presented by The Runners Hub, will now become a two-day event. Vendors will be on hand Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th to offer the latest in fitness products and services. Featured seminars and demonstrations will be scheduled throughout the weekend.

The expo is free and open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to come down and learn more about the healthy living opportunities available in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

Finish Fest After Party

Once you cross the finish line, it is time to celebrate! Runners can relax and enjoy the music, refreshments and a cold Michelob Ultra at the Finish Fest After Party. Military families are encouraged to stop by the USAA table to record a message to be sent to their loved ones overseas. You may be able to even brag about a new personal record or award!

The Health & Wellness Expo will be going strong inside the Event Center as well. If your business is interested in getting involved with either the Expo or after party email or call 931.245.4346. Vendor space is limited.

Who We Support

As always, 100 percent of the proceeds from the Go Commando event support local non-profit organizations. Since 2011, this event has raised over $80,000 for local community programs. Learn more about each of our partner agencies at gocommandoclarksville.com.

The 2013 charities of choice include: Clarksville Area YMCA, Fort Campbell Historical Foundation, Green Beret Foundation, Austin Peay State University, Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome, Clarksville Family Adoption Association, Not Alone, and more.

Go Commando Half Marathon & 5K is an entity of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention & Vistors Bureau. The Go Commando Half Marathon & 5k began in 2011 with the mission of promoting health and wellness to the Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell communities and to honor the service of those in uniform. The event is organized and supported entirely by local businesses and organizations.
