Austin Peay Women’s Basketball’s Tiasha Gray named APSU Athlete of the Week

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Sophomore guard Tiasha Gray, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named this week’s Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Gray averaged 19.5 points off the bench in two Lady Gov victories last week, solidifying Austin Peay’s hold on second place in the Ohio Valley Conference’s West Division. She shot 41.9 percent (13-for-31) from the field, and 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the free-throw line.

She was one of six Lady Govs in double figures against Murray State, Thursday, when the Lady Govs avenged an earlier loss to the Racers with an 86-71 victory.

She led all scorers with 26 points and nabbed a game-high four steals in Monday’s 87-74 road win against Southeast Missouri.

Since moving to the bench prior to the Morehead State contest, Gray is averaging 19.0 points on 43.8 percent (46-of-105) shooting.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included

  • Junior sprinter Erika Adams, of the track and field team, tied the school 55m dash record with a 7.05-second run in the finals at the TSU Invitational, finishing second.
  • Junior Dimitar Ristovski, of the men’s tennis team, defeated Pavels Grigorjevs (6-0, 1-6, 6-2) at No. 2 singles and teamed with Iago Seffrin for the Govs lone doubles win (6-4 over Luke Saunders and Derrick Brown) in Austin Peay’s 4-3 victory against Chattanooga, Saturday.
  • Junior Ed Dyson, of the men’s basketball team, scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds – both career-highs – in Austin Peay’s 96-88 loss to Murray State, Friday.
