High School Basketball Recap for Clarksville - Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – After last weeks results one local high school girls basketball team leads District 10-AAA by a game and has a slight advantage to repeat as the regular season champion with only two district games left in the regular season.

Rossview Lady Hawks are at the top of District 10-AAA, one game ahead of Clarksville High and two games above Henry County.

The Rossview Lady Hawks (16-6) won both of their district match ups last week. Since the beginning of 2015, they have won seven of their last nine games. The Lady Hawks have also already swept both the Clarksville Lady Wildcats and the Henry County Lady Patriots, the two teams closest to challenging them for the regular season title.

The Lady Hawks will finish the season this week with games against the Kenwood Lady Knights and the West Creek Lady Coyotes. The Lady Coyotes are one of the two teams that have defeated the Lady Hawks since the beginning of the new year.

The Lady Wildcats (16-9) extended their win streak to three games last week with wins over the Northwest Lady Vikings and the Lady Coyotes. They have won eight of their last nine games since the start of 2015. Their only loss came against the Lady Hawks. They will play against the Springfield Lady Yellow Jackets and the Lady Patriots this week. They currently trail the Lady Hawks by one game and will need to win their final two games in addition to the Lady Hawks losing for a shot at the regular season title.

The Lady Patriots (18-9) five game win streak came to end last week when they lost to the Lady Hawks, 34-43. However, they rebounded with a 49-32 win over Springfield last Friday. The Lady Patriots are currently ranked third in the district behind the Lady Hawks and the Lady Wildcats. After playing the Lady Vikings Tuesday, February 3, the Lady Patriots will play the Lady Wildcats Friday, February 6 in a game that could determine the regular season champion is the Lady Hawks lose this week.

The Northeast Lady Eagles (10-15) were beaten by the Lady Hawks last week before successfully defending themselves against the Lady Yellow Jackets, 54-21.It was just their second win in the last six games. They will finish district play against the Lady Knights and the Lady Coyotes this week.

The Lady Coyotes( 10-11) lost two more district games last week to the Lady Wildcats and the Lady Knights. After a strong run in December, they have only won three games since the new year began, including a win over the Lady Hawks last month. After playing the Lady Eagles, the Lady Coyotes will finish the season in a rematch against the Lady Hawks.

The Lady Knights (8-15) have won three of their last four games including wins over the Lady Vikings and the Lady Coyotes last week. Currently ranked sixth in the district, a win over the Lady Hawks or the Lady Eagles this week could bump them into the top four.

Both the Lady Vikings (3-19) and the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-17) continued to struggle with two more district losses last week. The Lady Vikings have only one district win this season and it was against the Lady Yellow Jackets. The two teams will end the regular season with a rematch at Springfield Friday, February 6.

The Montgomery Central Lady Indians (3-20, 1-13) broke an 11 game losing streak with two wins last week. One was their first district win against Fairview, 62-47. The second was a victory over the Clarksville Academy Lady Cougars last Thursday, 49-46. The Lady Indians last district games will be against Waverly Central and Stewart County this week.

The Lady Cougars (1-17, 1-9) still have only one win this season. In addition to losing against the Lady Indians, they were beaten by top ranked Houston County, 18-65. Their last district game will be against East Robertson.
