Clarksville Police investigate Shooting Death of Three-Year-Old Child

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department District Three patrol officers were dispatched to a house on Samantha Lane Friday, July 1st, 2016 at 5:26pm to investigate an E911 report that a small child had accidentally shot himself.

A 3-year-old boy was inside the home with a gunshot wound to the head. The child was transported by ambulance to Tennova Hospital in Clarksville where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The child and his parents live in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Their connection to the Samantha Lane resident had not been established at the time of this release. The .40 caliber pistol is owned by the resident. Detective Chris Nolder is the lead investigator.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
