APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball program adds its second Texas junior college pitching standout during the current NCAA signing period, with the addition of Weatherford College’s Morgan Rackel.

The 5-9 left-handed Calgary, Alberta, Canada native currently possesses a 20-4 win-loss record this season for the NJCAA Division I 10th-ranked Coyotes, who lead the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference with a 36-9 overall record and 21-5 in conference play.

Along with her 20-4 record, Rackel has posted a 1.86 ERA this season in 25 appearances, including 15 starts of which 14 ended in complete-game efforts and three shutouts.

Her win total ties 12th most wins by any pitcher in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I level this season.

In 154 innings, Rackel has recorded 99 strikeouts, while only walking 18 and allowing less than a hit an inning.

She has also been selected twice this season by the NTJCAC for Pitcher of the Week honors.

Rackel is also a force at the plate, batting .417 this season in 127 at bats, with 15 doubles, two triples and six home runs. She has also scored 34 runs and driven in 36.

She also owns a great eye at the plate drawing 19 walks, while only striking out only six times.

As a freshman was named to the NTJCAC All-Conference 2nd-Team after posting a 19-8 record, with a 3.19 ERA in 33 appearances for the Coyotes, who finished the 2016 season with a 41-16 record.

In 15 starts in the circle, finished with 13 complete games and 167 total innings pitched, while striking out 95 and walking 26.

As a hitter in 2016, Rackel batted .411, with seven doubles and three home runs, while scoring 17 runs and driving in 14.

In the classroom, Rackel was named to the NTJCAC All-Academic Team for 2017.
