Tallahassee, FL – In its final match of the Seminole Beach Battle, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) beach volleyball team fell to No. 15 Arizona, 5-0, Saturday morning.
The Governors’ (4-8) No. 4 pairing of Lucy Randall and Chloe Stitt pushed the Wildcats’ duo of Sarah Blacker and Jasmine Safar to the brink in the first set.
They were tied at 21 apiece before Blacker and Safar secured the final two points to win the set, and ultimately win the match in the second set.
In the No. 3 pairing, Haley Turner and Cori Theiss rebounded after a first set loss, giving Arizona’s Natalie Anselmo and Madison Rigdon a fight in the second set, but fell 21-19.
The Govs return to action at home next week as they open ASUN play for the first time in program history. The Govs play host to North Alabama in a doubleheader set to begin 1:00pm, Thursday, March 28th.
They will then travel to Morehead State to take on the Eagles in a conference doubleheader scheduled for 11:00am, Saturday, March 30th.
